They work great if you only have 1 monitor. Had issues with resolution on second monitor regardless of what i did. Rolled back to the 163.69

I've checked the event log it seems the control panel keeps crashing when I try to load it, so no control panel for me. Is powermizer on by default (when not plugged into the wall) that's the only setting I really care about.

The same that happen's to my note, a VAIO FE21M with 7600 GO....

With the 165.01 and .inf downloaded from LapTopVideo was OK... but with 163.76 and 163.71 WHQL... after driver installation the screen go black and I must restart my Vaio in safe mode and "kill" the driver installation!

!Please help us!

:P mobilenvidia

I have the same problem on my laptop (Acer Aspire 1513LMi, nVIDIA GeForce FX Go5700 64MB)

I tried drivers 163.51, 163.71, 163.76. With those drivers backlight doesn't work :)

With driver 163.16 it's ok, this issue seems to appear only since version 163.51

I don't understand this issue, any idea ? :)

First off, there's generally less incentive to reply to someone posting as a guest.

Secondly, there's even less incentive to replay to someone who's double-posting within 1 minute of each other.

And lastly, nobody knows except for *real* nVidia insiders, unless they tell someone - and even then it's just hearsay because chances are the insider will be leaking such information "off the record". So... take that for what it's worth.

I also wouldn't trust "leaked" information from any website that isn't very closely tied with nVidia, mainly people who get invited to VIP-only non-disclosure early previews of new product, such as Hilbert @ Guru3D. They have no reason to lie about things, most often they are more informed than they are allowed to talk about. :)

I have good news :)

So I tried driver version 163.51 yesterday, after installation the screen go black and brightness control is disabled

Today I tried version 163.44 and unexpectedly it works !

I compared the 2 modded inf and the only significant change is at line 1037, there is a new line for version 163.51 :

HKR,, EnableBrightnessControl, %REG_DWORD%,	1

I simply deleted this line, re-installed the driver and it's ok :P

With version 163.76 this manipulation works too and I suppose it also works with all drivers from 163.51 to 163.76

mobilenvidia could you add this issue in the first post ?

The driver works but it seems I still can't access the control panel.

This is with peiter's inf and my own inf.

Anyone else have this no control panel issue, I tried going to safe mode and using driver sweeper, with no luck.

I've had the no control panel issue on every single 1xx.xx driver I've tried, which renders them pretty much useless to me. I'm not sure if the languages are the problem, but who knows. Anything is worth a try at this point to be able to use recent drivers.

Inspiron 9300: 256mb Geforce Go 6800 NVIDIA Driver 93.71 -> 163.76 version.

It works great!

So it worked for you on a 9300/6800Go with just the modded .inf? Does your nvidia control panel work?

............

This change can solve the black screen issue after driver installation?

Tomorrow I try it on my Vaio FE with 7600go and post the result...

Thanks

A little better on 3DMark03 than the preceeding ones; PowerMizer still broken for me.

I changed all registry settings for PowerMizer to 1, so it at least defaults now to max performance

for AC and battery instead of max savings / balanced.

What about TimeShift Drivers for Windows Vista? Are these not out yet? I downloaded the demo, but it won't let me run it without the latest drivers. What are the official Timeshift drivers?

I have a question: after I installed this 163.76 driver for my Dell Inspiron 9300 with Geforce 6800 Go, I can't view my GPU's temperature. I could view the temperature while using the older 87.25 driver though...

Any insights for this problem?

Thanks

ps: I also have nTune installed on my computer.

Ranger, you CAN overclock with 'newer' drivers...if 'newer' means drivers that came out in the last 6 months. I have Vostro 1500 with 8600M GT. I was finally able to overclock with the 101.29 drivers (590/490) and saw a 20% increase in my 3dmark06 score (~3150 up to ~3750). Also, if you Undervolt with RightMark CPU, you can maintain core temperature at around ~60C. Also, for some in-game proof of improvement. I was using the 163.69 drivers and was able to run Crysis with all on medium at 1024 resolution, now I can run it with the same performance at 1280 res.

I am pleased with my results. If you are really interested in having the state-of-the-art drivers AND be able to overclock you could update your BIOS (http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=160237).

No worries m8, I'm a happy clam with 167.26, everything works again plus another boost in 3DMark'06 score.

You should be able to use nTune for the temps and overclocking, which the new control panel no longer supports, according to nvidia. I assume since you were apparently able to tell you can't monitor the temps, that means you were able to access the nvidia control panel without issue? Did you have to modify the .inf to get the control panel to work or it worked as-is with the modded .inf?

first off "killed" is basically saying the same thing as "bricked" and that's just not true. secondly, even if you did brick your hardware, first off you have no proof here, and secondly it doesn't help us at all unless you figure out why.

so... might i suggest that you just didn't get your driver installed properly onto your card, which is why your screen was at 4bit color. (what OS are you using, Windows2000?)

Well...I was using Dell's official driver for my video card. I was able to access my GPU temp and OC via nTune & Everest Ultimate. After I download & install the 163.76 with the modded inf file from here, I can no-longer see the temp. I can open the nTune monitor, I can see other stuffs (speed, RPM etc.) but not the temp. It's displaying nothing in the temp chart. And I can no-longer get access to the GPU sensor via Everest Ultimate edition either.
