Geforce Go 7900 GTX > Quadro FX 2500M

I'm going to try flashing my 7900GTX with 2500M bios tonight.

Anyone know why I shouldn't try this? I've flashed a couple of cards before. Anything to watch out for?

I'm prepared to blind flash back if need be. I've got a USB floppy drive, nvflash, NiBiTor, 2500M bios, gonna back mine up first. Anything I've missed?

Help/comments appreciated!

Is your nvflash version compatible with your flash eeprom?

Well I'm having fun! :)

I've now got a nice paperweight!

I used nvflash 5.38 on a usb floppy. I backed up my bios, then I flashed the Quadro bios and during the flash (I think) the laptop did a reset. The screen at least went black, then white, then black, then red, then green, then blue, then white.... etc. etc.

So that didn't work so I thought I'd put the backup back on again. Same thing happens as above.

I can boot to a floppy, I've also tried to boot to a USB stick (which I can) and try from there. Same deal.

I tried another bios from the notebook forums 7900 overclock thread (got rom from iso). Still the same.

I'm about out of ideas now, and I'm gonna have to send it in to Dell.

Numpty! :)

Any suggestions greatly appreciated!

Got it going again! :P

It looks like the 2500m bios somehow disabled the dvi out :)

After some frigging around (technical term!) I managed to use a friend's 40" LCD as a VGA monitor.

The VGA out still worked OK, after forcing VGA mode in windows. I could then reboot to the floppy and see what was happening. For some reason the -a option wasn't doing the trick, but after doing an nvflash -4 -5 -6 7900gtx.rom (my backup) without the 'a', and accepting everything, after a reboot the dvi to the onboard lcd came back to life and all is well with the world again!

I re-flashed the 2500m just for good measure (glutton for punishment!) and it goes on ok, and vga out works ok, but no joy with the dvi out.

So back to 7900 bios and strapped id to 029a for me! :)
