I have a DWA-556 PCIe card, and with the 7.4.2.15 drivers I cannot connect to 802.11n signals anymore, so I had to roll back to stay on my n network. Looks like those drivers are a bit messed.

Took me a whole damn day to figure out where these blue screens of death were coming from. I recently reinstalled Vista 64 and was getting new drivers/updates.

I had vista drivers for the dwa 552 from around summer 2007 and they worked fine. I'll try out older drivers i suppose.

If you don't mind my asking, which older drivers have you had success in running with Vista? I've got the same D-Link card you do, but have never gotten any of the Vista drivers by D-link (or the ones at the top of this post) to install and connect without crashing my system.
The last set of drivers I've been successful with are the 1.11 WinXP drivers posted on D-link's site. I guess Vista can run those in some sort of compatibility mode or something. Unfortunately, since there are no WinXP64 drivers anywhere that I've seen, I can't use the same trick in Vista64.
This card's lack of functioning drivers is the only thing holding me back from running Vista64 on my desktop.
Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks for your time.

I'm not sure which drivers I was using. I just know i had them from during the summer, maybe late summer when i first got the card. I just tried some drivers, v7.3.1.42 and v7.3.1.109 and both still gave me blue screens of death. I'll look for even older drivers and test those at some point. I know there has to be one that works since I was using them before.

Hey dd_rabbit, apparently the reason for the links not working is due to an unwanted redirect. They told me it would be fixed soon although they can't say for definite when :(

 I am REALLY stuck here. Basically, I downloaded the Atheros thing and I went into the add hardware utility in the Control Panel. I then ran the .inf file and it came up with all the drivers. But i couldn't find the driver for the WG311T. So i decided just to run any one, but it came up with an error saying that the device will not start up. What am I supposed to do? Ive looked around on google to see, but all there is is the same thing. Oh and by the way, I have the actual WG311T driver which doesn't work installed at the same time. Could that be affecting it. I wouldnt think so.

Make sure you google and find out which chipset the wg311t uses. I have a wpn311 and this uses ar5004g. Sop i grabbed these and installed it as a ar5004g.

Signal has dropped a little, but im on x64, and netgear drivers are BETA still. These seem fine to me , and artheros update a fair bit too :)

I had an issue with the latest .48 drivers, they caused my Audio to start Crackling/Popping. I was forced to revert to the good old 1.15 NMI fix version.

It has been fine for me to just use the latest modded inf and replace the version info. Haven't experienced an NMI parity error or connection issue since :)

Is anyone else having trouble reconnecting to a wireless network if the router/AP is reset? I have tried every driver here to no avail. When I make a change to the wireless router (WGL-4500), it must reboot for the changes to take effect. However, the DWA-552 I have will not immediately reconnect and struggles to get an IP after it does reconnect. It normally takes approximately 90 seconds for it to re-associate to the router and if I leave it long enough (6 minutes), it will typically get an IP address.

I've lost too many hours of my life troubleshooting this. Anyone here run across this situation?

Running Vista Ultimate x64, DWA-552 and WGL-4500 (WPA2 security).

Thanks in advance.

Does anyone happen to know if there are any drivers for D-link DWA-547 (desktop PCI adapter) for Vista x64? I haven't found anything that would work.

All the 7 series drivers support your PCI card

Quote

ATHR.DeviceDesc.DWA547 = "D-Link DWA-547 RangeBooster N650 Desktop Adapter"

The driver should install as is.
The modded driver should also work.

But you need to install via Control Panel Device properties update driver, just point it to the dir with the files you've just downloaded
