Anchel
Finally some updated SONY drivers!! Now THIS is something new. However, I'm just curious to know: aren't 15x.xx drivers supposed to be mobile drivers and the 16x.xx desktop drivers? I guess NVidia has no intentions on helping their customers with the version numbering... :S Anyway, I'm gonna be testing these scaling back from the 169.09 drivers, which were working mostly great for me. Who knows, maybe this will fix most of my performance problems. As soon as I get some results I will post them here!
Guest ssvenn
Are these drivers any good? compared to 169.
Anchel
Ok so I have been testing these drivers a little bit now and well... They are not as fast as 169.09 for me (I can't give exact framerates, sorry). Bioshock runs great... at 800 x 600, higher resolutions make it run choppy (all settings on highest). And Crysis is running well with all on High EXCEPT for the shaders which I have to place on LOW (no shaders at all). Also, these drivers have the same slight problem with water reflections as drivers 169.01 did. So far I don't recommend them... as long as 169.09 works for you. Guest Pedro
Anchel. Thanks for the post I have the same system as you. I have only had it a couple of weeks so new to this site. Could you confirm which inf file you use for these drivers ? a modded one for the 169.09 (which) and if the 167.43 are Sony do they need this. Sorry to be dumb, please be gentle!!! (also trying to run Bioshock to no avail with supplied driver)

Thnx for the quick info :) I've got the FZ11E with 8400M GT graphics. [Anyone who has full system hangs when watching video files with wmp?] Are these 167.43 SONY drives compatible with powermizer? I guess these 167.43 SONY drives will be much more stable compared to 169.xx, but if they are not i prefer the performance of the 169.xx :) . Anchel
Pedro, first of all, if you have a Sony laptop then there is no need to use the modded inf. Just download the driver and it will install without any problems. And Bioshock WORKS with them, as well as the 169.09 drivers. By the way Pedro, you're spanish, aren't you? I'm spanish as well :) And for Ssvenn, I think I know what is causing your system hang when watching video files on WMP. It actually might happen to you with any kind of video file you play (even those played in games). As far as I know, it has something to do with the video options of your video card. Just go to the NVidia Control Panel and go to the "Video options" (I don't know the exact names because my NVidia Control Panel is in Spanish). From there, go to the "enhancements" tab and de-activate the option in there (in spanish it is called "usar telecine inverso"). That should prevent you from getting full system hangs, which are quite random in VAIO laptops with certain drivers. Finally, I would like to note that the 169.09 drivers DO HAVE powermizer, as well as the SONY 167.43 ones. I hope all this info was helpful!! Guest Guest
Maybe someone here can help me with this. I have the 7400 Go, but it has a weird glitch with vista. When I run a dxdiag it says I have 61 MB of VRAM when I really should have 64. I downloaded this update and the result wasn't fixed. How do I fix this?
whitetigerx7
That's normal. I have 128mb allocated to my GeForce 6150 and it only says I have 124mb. It's the RAMDAC FrameBuffer that allocates 2-4 MB of VRAM for itself on every video card. BTW, driver EXTEMELY stable. This may be odd but I just got a Vista rating of 3.2 on a normally certified 3.0 system. These drivers must have some mean tweaks and optimizations. I'm uploading my HP/Compaq INF as soon as I can. These are as stable as a chunk of lead dropped in a nuclear reactor. And that's pretty stable.
Guest tvanhens
I know thats normal, is there a way to fix it because I can't run a game that requires 64 MB because it says I have 61 MB
Guest tnv
can someone post the score of 3dmardk 06 with this driver? i've got 2816 in default mode/settings fz21s

I'm not quite sure wat the feature is for, but I shut it down and de VAIO lasted even longer on it's battery :) two dumbs up. Maybe I have some spare time tomorrow and run a 3DMark06 for 169.06 and 167.43 :P for the 8400M GT. BTW I knew that 169.xx has powermizer support, just wondering for the 167.
Anchel
Glad to see that worked for you too, ssvenn! The option you turned off is supposed to improve video playback, but as far as I have seen it doesn't give me any difference, not even when playing high-definition movies, so I wouldn't worry about it too much. These drivers are really stable, but right now they don't match the performance of the 169.09 for me... It's a shame, because I really would prefer Sony drivers just because of their specific customizations...
trueoriginal
Hey I'm running Vaio FE21M Intel Centrino Duo @ 1.66GHz 1GB RAM Nvidia GF Go 7600 128Bit with 128MB and 256MB Shared On Vista Ultimate I've tried a lot of drivers lately but ended up sticking with Sony's 98.13. That driver without overclocking gives me a decent fps on 3DMark06 (I dont have the score cos I've not had time to run it all the way through yet). This driver gives me about half the fps and even clocked to 500/400 still doesn't quite match the 98.13 which was not clocked at all (350/350). In my opinion you're better off sticking with the older driver which hasn't given me any stability issues at all...

Augu
And overclocking is supported again. Have to test what is my 8400M GT max (Sony Vaio FZ11M). Also PureVideo seems to work great. Edited November 21, 2007 by Augu
