Need some help getting my 8600gt working for my AW m5500.

so I have an alienware m5500 with a pentium M processor and bought an 8600gt card off of ebay with an acer bios. I had an ati X700 in it and upgraded to the 8600gt. I opened the laptop, took out the old card, and put in the new one. I turned on my laptop, and everything seems to turn on fine, but I guess the card hasn't been fully installed. I don't really understand what flashing a bios means, but I'm guessing my bios is ok since windows seems to load up, but then again I could be wrong since I know very little.

Can some give me some step by step instructions on what to do after you physically put the card in. Every tutorial i seem find is about how to put the card in and not what I should do afterwards. some help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks everyone.
