I saw some benches a little while back with someone who had an 8800 GT and a Physx card. His benches were a little bit higher, but enough to notice, when he disabled his Physx card and just had 8800 GT do all the work. Apparently the code can be ran much, much better by the nVidia cores then it can on the actual old Physx cards. I would just disable your mobile PPU card altogether and forget about it.

For more information about NVIDIA PhysX, see http://www.nvidia.com/object/nvidia_physx.html. The FAQ section is particularly helpful.

Your laptop certainly supports PhysX, as long as you have 256 MB or more of dedicated graphics memory. Note that it is advised that you need to have installed a graphics driver that is at least version 178.xx (these can also be found here on LV2G) - it's a prerequisite more or less. :P

To install PhysX, simply download and double-click the installer from the first post once it finishes. It should be pretty straightforward.

Even the very latest 176.xx (by date) drivers don't support PhysX.

My 8600M GT have 512 MB, is physx need some addition hardware to install it? My Acer 5920G is original from factory, i never changed or add hardware, so must I install it to my laptop? it has performance boost or increase image quality? :)

It just gives the opportunity to use your GPU to physics calculations - so far little used and it doesn't do miracles. Perhaps later it can contribute to gaming realism more, but just now it's not so important. No additional hardware is needed as your GPU is supported.

I downloaded the new PhysX and tried to install it.

The installer starts but then after a few seconds the windows goes away and the installer quits. Anyone have any luck getting this to install?

Also I noticed the comment about needing the 178 driver, is that true?

I'm currently running with the 175.55 driver for my 8700M cards.

How can I verify that the PhysX card is being used? I ran the various demo's and they work.

Most 177.xx drivers do support PhysX, probably some earlier, too. You should have in your Nvidia Control Panel a chance to tick enable GeForce PhysX.

Thanx, i little understod now. So enabling physx can decreased performance, because of increased image quality to become more realism, is'nt it?
