Exostenza Posted December 4, 2008 Report Share Posted December 4, 2008 I saw some benches a little while back with someone who had an 8800 GT and a Physx card. His benches were a little bit higher, but enough to notice, when he disabled his Physx card and just had 8800 GT do all the work. Apparently the code can be ran much, much better by the nVidia cores then it can on the actual old Physx cards. I would just disable your mobile PPU card altogether and forget about it. The FAQ section is particularly helpful. Your laptop certainly supports PhysX, as long as you have 256 MB or more of dedicated graphics memory. Note that it is advised that you need to have installed a graphics driver that is at least version 178.xx (these can also be found here on LV2G) - it's a prerequisite more or less. :P To install PhysX, simply download and double-click the installer from the first post once it finishes. My 8600M GT have 512 MB, is physx need some addition hardware to install it? Perhaps later it can contribute to gaming realism more, but just now it's not so important. No additional hardware is needed as your GPU is supported. phoenix1972 Posted December 5, 2008 Report Share Posted December 5, 2008 I downloaded the new PhysX and tried to install it. The installer starts but then after a few seconds the windows goes away and the installer quits. Anyone have any luck getting this to install? Also I noticed the comment about needing the 178 driver, is that true? I'm currently running with the 175.55 driver for my 8700M cards. How can I verify that the PhysX card is being used?
