Guest mat
hi everybody, I have an amilo pi 1536 with a Nvidia geforce go 7600, i have tried to upgrade with 4Gb ddr2 ram (2x2gb) but the notebook don't boot! i have felt, that needs to put the bios 2.07 of alienware m5550 to make to recognize more than 2gb to the amilo pi 1536/1556, but i'am afraid that after the upgrade the notebook asks me some boots password or other passwords??? If I make the upgrade with the bios of alienware m5550, in the future can i upgrade my amilo pi 1536 with Nvidia 8600M gt or Ati mobility 3650, or I will have to return to fujitsu 1.25 bios??? Somebody can help me? thanks

Remove any existing bios passwords before upgrade. 1.19 and 2.06, 2.07 bioses are compatible with hd 3650. 2.06 is compatible with 8600m gs and gt.(2.07 is not) 1.19 bios gives you possibility to install 4gb ram. I would put on my pi 1536, the ati 3650, but I know that there are versions with 512mb suppose DDR2 and DDR3 versions with 256mb, and then there are those with green and red pcb, but what should I take? if I had problemswith the recognition of the card (no boot / black screen)? should proceed with a blind flash? thank you very much

Guest Guest
i tested 2.06w bios on an amilo xi 1546 yesterday. seems like it only works with 2GB of ram and the ati x1800 isn't working correctly as well :/ i ordered a geforce 9700m gt... i hope i get this card running ... but how the hell is it possible to get up to 4gb ram AND a better graphic card running together??? Guest Guest
are u sure that yhe 9700m gt will work?
Guest Guest
ok, tested 9700M GT in Amilo Xi-1546. it works, but you have to edit the vbios, so that normal frequencies are used in safe mode. still the 30 seconds issue at startup ... and thats the reason i've decided to sell the card again, buy a ati 3650 512mb and use it with 3 to 4 gb ram with alienware bios 1.19w ... seems to be the best solution for amilo xi-15xx
Meins321
Does this in generall mean that i can Flash my m5550R3-i that runs the Alienware 2.07 with the Alienware BIOS from m5790 or m5750 1.19w Bios??
greg_o
hello, I test a 9700m gt 512Mo GDDR3 on my amilo PI1556 . OK but the 30 sec mesage at boot. It's ok with 2.06 firmware , but not with 2.07 for more than 2gb of RAM, i run with "vga default" driver ... so it's the same problem with 8600m, 9700m with 512 Mo , we can't install more than 2Gb of RAM. I will buy a ATI HD 3650,but a question: the 512 Mo model work with 2.07 alienware bios or not ?

Guest Wacholek
Could You post direct link to the 2.06 bios version for M5750/xi1546? Like this: http://aliendl.alienware.com/Mobile/m5750/BIOS/m5750_m5790_Bios1.19W.zip but for 2.06. I bought 8600GT 512MB and i think this the only bios for my xi1546 in this case. Mike
Hi there, Is something known about HD4650 and 4 GBs of RAM? Mr. Verbeek said to me, that a HD4650 is not usable with an Alienware 1.19W Bios. Is this Case proven? I would like to use 4GBs of Ram and the HD4650. I hope someone has new information about this. Guest phamchau79
Hi all, :) Finally, pi1536 + Core 2 duo T7200 + BIOS 1.19 alienware + HD4750 (MXM-upgrade) + 4gb Ram (only 3.25 recognized by BIOS) = OK. Tested systems (32 and 64 bits): Windows XP, Vista, 7, Ubuntu 8.10, 9.04, 9.10, 10.04 alpha. It is impossible to use all 4gb Ram. Any idea? There is any test with Bios 2.06 or 2.07? Thanks. Guest BulldogPO
So is there any bios that supports 2x2GB or 1GB + 2GB and 8600GT 512MB?
Guest Mauoi
about the 4650 with 4gb of ram.....sorry but it's not possible to have more than 256mb of video memory AND 4gb of systeme memory (ram) if you want to have a 4650 card you have to take only 2gb of ram
Guest aczelkri
Ok, It seems currently that it is not possible to use any VGA with 512MB simultaneously with 4GB (well, 3.25 actually). Has anyone tried if it is possible to use any VGA/512MB with only 3GB RAM? I am just thinking out loud: if there is some addressing problem that causes that 3.25GB is only usable with 256MB video memory (sum: 3.5GB), then would it not be possible that 3.00GB + 512MB work together (sum: 3.5GB)?
