lejav
I have tried to change the MAC Address of my Atheros 5007EG under Vista. I am using latest driver (7.7.0.231-v1.24). I did some tests, and if I choose as Mac Address: 12 34 56 78 90 12 : it is OK 02 34 56 78 90 12 : it is OK 10 34 56 78 90 12 : it is not OK, address is set to initial interface address 00 34 56 78 90 12 : it is not OK, address is set to initial interface address I can change it without limitation under Linux (with macchanger or ifconfig hw ether) I have another USB wireless interface, and i can change its MAC address without limitation under vista. The limitation seems to be related to the driver. Why such a limitation ? Thx for help.
Guest Kieron
I'm having exactly the same problem - I can't spoof my MAC address with this Atheros device. Works fine on my LAN card, works fine in Ubuntu, again using the macchanger method. Someone, help us!
Guest compu829
Same problem here! I ahve an atheros card that won't let me change it properly either. From what I have seen, it is a driver restriction. It has to do with this thing called a Locally Administered Address (LAA). The only format the driver will accept is X2:XX:XX:XX:XX:XX:XX. Maybe someone can rebuild it without this restriction?
