oscarbg
I think these drivers (2622) have some OpenGL improvements (3.3 support?,new extensions (rage support?),etc..) can someone with a SNB GPU list extensions supported using OpenGL extensions viewer, gpu caps viewer or something like these.. also would be good if someone tests id rage if its working with this OGL drivers? was working before? I did a quick test using OpenGL Extensions Viewer 4.0.5: Report: Renderer: Intel(R) HD Graphics Family Vendor: Intel Memory: 3824 MB Version: 3.1.0 - Build 8.15.10.2622 Shading language version: 1.40 - Intel Build 8.15.10.2622 Max texture size: 8192 x 8192 Max texture coordinates: 8 Max vertex texture image units: 16 Max texture image units: 16 Max geometry texture units: 0 Max anisotropic filtering value: 16 Max viewport size: 8192 x 8192 Max Clip Distances: 6 Max samples: 4 Extensions: 117 GL_3DFX_texture_compression_FXT1 GL_ARB_color_buffer_float GL_ARB_compatibility GL_ARB_copy_buffer GL_ARB_depth_buffer_float GL_ARB_depth_clamp GL_ARB_depth_texture GL_ARB_draw_buffers GL_ARB_draw_elements_base_vertex GL_ARB_draw_instanced GL_ARB_fragment_coord_conventions GL_ARB_fragment_program GL_ARB_fragment_program_shadow GL_ARB_fragment_shader GL_ARB_framebuffer_object GL_ARB_framebuffer_sRGB GL_ARB_half_float_pixel GL_ARB_half_float_vertex GL_ARB_map_buffer_range GL_ARB_multisample GL_ARB_multitexture GL_ARB_occlusion_query GL_ARB_pixel_buffer_object GL_ARB_point_parameters GL_ARB_point_sprite GL_ARB_sampler_objects GL_ARB_seamless_cube_map GL_ARB_shader_objects GL_ARB_shading_language_100 GL_ARB_shadow GL_ARB_sync GL_ARB_texture_border_clamp GL_ARB_texture_compression GL_ARB_texture_compression_rgtc GL_ARB_texture_cube_map GL_ARB_texture_env_add GL_ARB_texture_env_combine GL_ARB_texture_env_crossbar GL_ARB_texture_env_dot3 GL_ARB_texture_float GL_ARB_texture_non_power_of_two GL_ARB_texture_rectangle GL_ARB_texture_rg GL_ARB_transpose_matrix GL_ARB_uniform_buffer_object GL_ARB_vertex_array_bgra GL_ARB_vertex_array_object GL_ARB_vertex_buffer_object GL_ARB_vertex_program GL_ARB_vertex_shader GL_ARB_window_pos GL_ATI_separate_stencil GL_EXT_abgr GL_EXT_bgra GL_EXT_blend_color GL_EXT_blend_equation_separate GL_EXT_blend_func_separate GL_EXT_blend_minmax GL_EXT_blend_subtract GL_EXT_clip_volume_hint GL_EXT_compiled_vertex_array GL_EXT_draw_buffers2 GL_EXT_draw_range_elements GL_EXT_fog_coord GL_EXT_framebuffer_blit GL_EXT_framebuffer_multisample GL_EXT_framebuffer_object GL_EXT_gpu_program_parameters GL_EXT_multi_draw_arrays GL_EXT_packed_depth_stencil GL_EXT_packed_float GL_EXT_packed_pixels GL_EXT_rescale_normal GL_EXT_secondary_color GL_EXT_separate_specular_color GL_EXT_shadow_funcs GL_EXT_stencil_two_side GL_EXT_stencil_wrap GL_EXT_texture3D GL_EXT_texture_array GL_EXT_texture_compression_s3tc GL_EXT_texture_edge_clamp GL_EXT_texture_env_add GL_EXT_texture_env_combine GL_EXT_texture_filter_anisotropic GL_EXT_texture_integer GL_EXT_texture_lod_bias GL_EXT_texture_rectangle GL_EXT_texture_shared_exponent GL_EXT_texture_snorm GL_EXT_texture_sRGB GL_EXT_texture_swizzle GL_EXT_transform_feedback GL_IBM_texture_mirrored_repeat GL_INTEL_performance_queries GL_NV_blend_square GL_NV_conditional_render GL_NV_primitive_restart GL_NV_texgen_reflection GL_SGIS_generate_mipmap GL_SGIS_texture_edge_clamp GL_SGIS_texture_lod GL_WIN_swap_hint WGL_ARB_buffer_region WGL_ARB_create_context WGL_ARB_extensions_string WGL_ARB_framebuffer_sRGB WGL_ARB_make_current_read WGL_ARB_multisample WGL_ARB_pbuffer WGL_ARB_pixel_format WGL_ARB_pixel_format_float WGL_EXT_depth_float WGL_EXT_extensions_string WGL_EXT_pixel_format_packed_float WGL_EXT_swap_control WGL_EXT_swap_control_tear Core features v3.0 (100 % - 23/23) v3.1 (100 % - 8/8) v3.2 (60 % - 6/10) v3.3 (10 % - 1/10) v4.0 (0 % - 0/14) v4.1 (0 % - 0/7) v4.2 (0 % - 0/12) OpenGL driver version check (Current: 3.1.0 - Build 8.15.10.2622, Latest known: 8.15.10.2622): Outdated version of display drivers detected According the database, you are might be not using the latest version of display drivers for your video card. Andi_84
2629 refuses to install on my 2nd generation Sandy Bridge using either the installer or the "have disk" method. I had to drop back to 2622. You mean 2626, do you? Seems the included .inf-File (\Graphics\kit41812.inf [for x86] or \Graphics\kit41813.inf [for x64]) contains only OEM-specific Hardware-IDs. You need to modify the .inf-File to enable the "generic" Hardware-IDs (without Subsystem-ID). For convenience, I've attached modded .inf-Files for both x86 and x64. After modding the .inf-File try to install the driver via "Have disk" method. (Confirm any warnings complaining about missing WHQL-certification). Best regards, Andi intel_graphics_2626_modded-inf-only.7z
LSudlow
Thanks for that - I'll give it a try! And yes, I meant 2626 - Old age sucks. EDIT: It works fine - Thanks!

LSudlow
8.15.10.2653 WHQL is available on Windows Update now, but it doesn't include the HD Audio driver. It's faster than previous Intel drivers too. I'm keeping it and using a generic Microsoft HD Audio driver until something better comes along. (I probably should mention that this is an optimus setup with 295.73 on my nVidia GPU.)

credohut
Hello, I am terribly sorry if this is not the right place to post, but I am new here and terribly confused. I have an HP Pavilion dv6 laptop with an Intel GMA HD card. It seems that HP writes their own updated drivers and my laptop won't accept the ones written by Intel from their downloadcenter, but HP has neglected to release an official updated driver for my specific laptop/card since 2009, when the laptop was made. I have found my way here in hopes that I can find a modded driver, and posted in this thread because it is an Intel card. Anyway, I was hoping someone here could help me. Are these intel files relevant to my situation? I tried downloading the files from one of the links in post #65, but I'm not sure what to do with the files I downloaded/if they will even work. Am I in the right place? Can anyone help me at all? Thank you so much, Derek

Can you check the exact device Id (using the device manager) of your Intel graphics card? If it's one of these: PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_0046 PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_0042 you need to use the drivers from post 54, note those from post 65. And yes, if you currently have vendor-specific GMA drivers installed, you can not simply install those from Intel. Instead, install the Intel drivers this way: 1) Download the correct drivers package 2) Extract contents from the .zip or .exe-File (using e.g. WinRar, WinZip or 7zip). 3) Bring up Windows Device Manager, right-click your Intel graphics adaptor, select Update drivers... 4) Select "Manual method" and browse to the directory where you've extracted the drivers 5) After driver update is complete, reboot your laptop. Andi, Thank you so much for taking the time to respond to me, I really appreciate it. The VEN and DEV numbers you suggested were indeed the correct ones. Going through your steps, I've prepared the driver files and am ready for the manual install, but when I select this option the device manager tells me that the driver software is already up to date. I already uninstalled the driver from my list of programs in the control panel but this keeps coming up, so here is what I am thinking as the next step: http://imgur.com/HSLQf Should I go through with that, will that fix the problem and let me manually install? If so, should the box remain unchecked? I am afraid of making an irreparable mistake. Again, I apologize for coming in here as I seriously do not know anything about this field, but I greatly appreciate your help. Thanks, Derek
erp-ster7n
hi Derek (aka. credohut). you're not alone when I tried the Intel HD graphics driver 8.15.10.2656 on some of the computers that I have. That driver installed and worked on my Dell Inspiron 620 desktop computer but refused to install under my brother's Sony VAIO VPCEB44FX laptop. the Dell desktop PC had hardware device ID no. PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_0102&SUBSYS_04ED1028 but the Sony VAIO laptop had device ID no. PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_0046&SUBSYS_9071104D (those Intel HD Graphics drivers from the Sony support site are outdated) I usually un-install current Intel HD Graphics driver through the Programs & Features control panel app rather than through Device Manager, which should remove the driver and some other Intel software properly (otherwise, if you want to remove the Intel HD Graphics driver from Device Manager, select Uninstall BUT check the checkbox that says "Delete the driver software for this device.") Note that when you remove the Intel video driver, you MUST reboot your computer for the changes to take effect. Note that the drivers mentioned in post 54 are ZIP packages. I go for the straight EXE files directly from the Intel download site: (Win7Vista_64_152254.exe) for Vista/Win7 x64 (Win7Vista_152254.exe) for Vista/Win7 x86 just run any one of these EXE files to perform an automatic installation of the Intel HD Graphics drivers and restart the computer for the new driver to take effect. I just don't like installing a new Intel driver on top of an old one (aka. by using Andy's "Update Driver" procedure) for some reason; I remove the old one from Programs and Features, reboot and then install the new one by running the bundled setup.exe file or running the EXE package. That ensures that I get to use the new Intel HD graphics driver. In short credohut, the latest Intel driver you should have is 8.15.10.2622, which is the one my brother's Sony VAIO laptop is using. so far, only my Dell Inspiron 620 desktop PC can use Intel driver 8.15.10.2656. I may try these drivers on my aunt's Dell Inspiron 580 machine when I get the chance later on. -erpster Edited March 20, 2012 by erp-ster7n

tribaljet
A heads up for people who might be considering to install 2656 driver release for Intel HD 2000/3000 present on 2nd generation i3/i5/i7. This driver removes a lot of options from the Intel Control Panel, options that were availble on all previous drivers, such as 2622 release and older. Also, 2656 release has issues with multimonitor support, with reports of people being unable to drive the same number of monitors.
