erp-ster7n
Now I'm scratching my head a little bit.  Ever since I uninstalled the Alps Pointing Device for Vaio drivers and updated the Logitech Setpoint drivers to the latest ones (when I connected a cordless Logitech USB mouse, it seemed to have downloaded & installed the LnonPnP.sys file from the Logitech site), any older Realtek HD audio drivers that have previously crashed with blue screen errors during installation [like 7203, 7246, 7312, etc.] on the Vaio VPCEB series laptop seem to complete installation successfully without crashing (woo-hoo!). :)  And there was a 7200 driver from Gigabyte [aka R3.87] (ah, a driver version between 7195 & 7203) that also worked on the Vaio laptop. Seems like the Realtek driver crashing problems on the vaio laptop are over now.
ricktendo64
I may have a newer ALPS driver for your VAIO, you said yours was from 2010 I have one from 2011. erp-ster7n
sorry rick but that 2011 alps driver won't work. the hardward id on my brother's Sony Vaio laptop is sort of an unlucky one. It's *SNYALP0012 or ACPI\SNYALP0012 and that is not listed in the 2011 Alps driver.  but anyways, things are better now on the Sony laptop with the alps driver gone. And version 6.0.1.7334 of the Realtek HD Audio driver (dated Sept. 2, 2014) has recently been posted on Microsoft Update Catalog for 64bit Windows 8.1 systems.  Try removing the Logitech Anywhere MX mouse drivers (and perhaps install the Logitech Setpoint 6.65 drivers on your friend's sony laptop). Then try installing the newer realtek audio drivers.  Though it's nice that there are newer Windows Installer MSI security updates from KB2918614 (even for XP embedded), the KB2918614 MSI updates have caused some problems, breaking the Windows Installer service on some Win7 & Win8 machines as mentioned in this Microsoft Community forum thread.  So far the KB2918614 MS14-049 Windows Installer updates have not messed up Windows Installer on my Vista/Win7/Win8 computers. erp-ster7n
Anyone have the source for 7339? Â MSI Global site - Realtek Audio 6.0.1.7339 for Win7 & Win8.1 x64 edition, listed on the MSI GE70 2PC Apache downloads page. Found this through a Yahoo search, not a Google search (yup, google could not easily locate the 7339 drivers at MSI but yahoo did) Â Update 9/24: I also found versions 6.0.1.7318 and 6.0.1.7344 of the Realtek HD Audio drivers at MSI
ricktendo64
Thanks for 7344 Â They seem to have reverted to an earlier version of MaxxAudio* libs and removed some others in 7344, maybe this was part of the cause of the blue screens

erp-ster7n
thanks Andi for the link to the 7349 drivers. personally, I'll wait for a 735x or 736x driver made in October as I'm fine using the 7344 drivers.
erp-ster7n
found a source for the 7348 drivers - Gigabyte (posted 10/17/2014 on the Gigabyte P35W-V3 & P35X-V3 download pages; they didn't post it sooner but better late than never) and 7340 for 32bit Win8.1 systems (dated 9/10/2014) is available from Microsoft Update Catalog  Update 12/15: The huge 7348 driver package from Gigabyte contains Dolby DS1 (dolby digital plus editions of advanced audio & home theater), Dolby PCEE4 [Dolby Advanced Audio V2 & Dolby Home Theater V4] and Waves MaxxAudio installers in Windows MSI packages. Thanks!  not yet as of 11/16/2014. PC manufacturer(s) who had the 7365 drivers won't pubicly post it up online; that's why the source hasn't been found. There's also a 2nd set of 7368 drivers from the Station Drivers site but with an executable setup installer and is not from Microsoft. erp-ster7n
Thanks, that is what we need, a trusted source.  Interesting enough, HP doesn't list the real driver version.  not only that, Hewlett-Packard (HP) seems to be somewhat vague on what systems their Realtek Audio 7368 driver package apply to.
