Realtek have released a new HD Audio Beta Driver that attempts to fix the crackling issues users have been experiencing under systems running SiS 671DX+968 chipset and Win7.
I have tried it here on a laptop which indeed suffered from the above symptoms and it seems to have fixed it (haven't performed intense testing though).
The driver is not publicly available yet and has been sent to users who have been in contact with Realtek support.

The strange thing about this package is that the driver version as displayed by the Realtek HD Audio Manager is: 6.0.1.5898 which has been around for quite a while according to google. Driver date in device manager confirms this is an older build: 20/07/2009.

In any case it appears to have worked for me (Win7 Ultimate x86)...

Cheers guys, I've combined the 2 drivers into 1 little parcel of joy smaller than either Realtek single one.

excuse me mobilenvidia, but what is the difference between "Vista_Win7_R237" and "WDM_R237"? The readme files contained seem the same so I don't know which to install. I have windows vista 32bit by the way.

"Vista_Win7_R237" - is for Windows Vista and Windows 7 (both 32bit and 64bit)
"WDM_R237" - is for Windows XP (both 32bit and 64bit i guess)

both have the same readme because it contains all details for all windows versions, so you need the first package

Win2008R2 x64-
DEADLY BSOD on Restart... unrecoverable...

Thank god I did an acronis backup of the whole driver before I started screwing around (the server is 1-2~ months from shipout, so backup was made to restore before shipping), otherwise after I install 2.42 and it restarts, thats all she wrote...

Did they release a 2.41? or a 2.40? or should I try 2.39 next? I try to use the latest and greatest...
