Well I finally installed the 3 Seagate 7200 RPM 500 GB Drives in my Clevo.
I was having problems with the laptop shutting down and decided I would finally replace the drives and tighten up the screws.
I discovered that turning the laptop on its side fixed the random shut downs. (lol)

Anyway I swapped the drives and benchmarked a TB RAID5. After swapping the drives I re-seated the DVD burner and elevated the laptop more and its running fine now. Hopefully I won't need a new motherboard like I thought.

Here is the RAID5 benchmark. Its better than my home made laptop but still slower than the old RAID0 I was running.

For whatever reason the intel matrix storage controller doesn't have migration options so I have destroyed the RAID and created the RAID0.
Windows is installing on it now.
Then I will have amazing hard drive speed that will make the computer blow up. :w00t: :w00t:

Edit: WOAH this is fast.

A laptop from 2007. The motherboard was developed in 2006.
965 chipset plus SLI = nice. Too bad I can't use all 6 sata ports, Could have a second RAID, hehe.

Edit: I just enabled volume write back cache and this is what I get now.
I think my hard drives might blow up from this.

Wow... that's pretty insane. It makes me think I might need to do some work on this Western Digital WD3200BEKT I dropped in my M1530 a few months ago.

Well done, but don't let that computer explode! :willy_nilly:

I am still tooling along at 76mbps....

Now tell me again how you managed 3 hard drives in a laptop? Are they all internal? I can only get 2 internal in mine so it is either Raid 0 or 1. No Raid 5 support.

BTW, I have opted for the JBOD configuration since I don't trust the lack of reliability on Raid 0 (I beat up my laptops) and I end up losing a drive if I go Raid 1. I could do Raid 0 with 3 drives if I hook up the esata but that makes a drive external and I have better uses for that hookup since it is hot-swappable.

The Clevo D90xC, the D90xF, and I think some other Clevo machines are 4 spindle and have slots for 3 hard drives.
The actual RAID controller in my D901C is 6 channels though. It might be possible to solder more connectors onto it.

Ok. I didn't know there were laptops housing 3 internal drives. I think mine is 5 channel but I don't know. The internals are marked as 1 and 2. The external is marked as number 5. When I had booted linux once it indicated 3 and 4 as being dummies.
