I Have a problem, I cannot install the driver on my computer. with nvidia installer or windows installer (update driver). And I have this error message, invalid key registry. I have never seen this problem with your driver. I have a nvidia geforce gt 540m, are there a link with the presence of many inf files?

I have got the very same proble
Regardless of how I try to install this driver (nVidia installer or via control panel and get driver), the driver always fails to install.
Additionally, I've tried to use the original INF and simply added my hardware ID + the string for it - resulting in a failed installation as well...

I am on Windows 7 x64 and use a 460M GT.
Could someone please look into this?

There might be an error - I downloaded mine from NVidia and added my card into the inf.

The error confirmed - the install of http://laptopvideo2g...551_win7x64.exe failed midways during driver install. Didn't get an error message - installed were nvlddmkm.sys, nvapi.dll, nvd3dumx.dll, nvoglv64.dll, nvwgf2umx.dll, nvapi64.dll before the install failed.

looking back, i remember getting the required files missing last time nvidia changed the inf format... they just love to dick around

I just extracted the file I uploaded and it installed just fine, so weird.

...OK, reloaded and did a clean install - failed. Nothing got installed but as Windows loaded an older driver back I got a mixed set of 286.16 and
295.51 files. No problem, back to restore point.

OK, I got the driver plus the INF, but installation fails on my GTX 570M. This is my first laptop, so I am only starting now to look into the matter.

Did you get the driver from here ?

The modded INFs will always be based on international version where ever possible.
This is to support the most systems all over the world.

If you downloaded the English only version (US) then there could be issues
If you downloaded the Verde version there could be issues

The driver I have uploaded here is the International desktop version
I have downloaded the driver above and installed it to check if I made a booboo but I have not (phew)

If you are having trouble and you have not downloaded the driver from here you know what to do
Otherwise I'm stumped.

You may, I downloaded from here, did a clean install and it failed midways of gfx driver install. But I didn't use any cleaner, just trusted on nVidia uninstall, which may have left something behind.

I installed straight over the top of previous driver.

I'll dust off trusty old i9400 and see if I can recreate it on there.

OK, on old lappy and installer seems to get stuck then stops with error.

Now hopefully the old girl will stay on long enough for me to fix the issue

Ah, found the culpit.

Have updated the driver file.
nV have put another sneaky file in driver that plays up with our cruncher.

You could reload the driver again or rename nvidia-smi.1.pd to nvidia-smi.1.pd_ in directory /Display.Driver/ where you extracted the driver.
I've modified the driver cruncher to recognise this file in future.

I got the driver from this site, for most entries, it says 'didn't install', for the actual driver, it says 'error'. I d/l-ed the nv_disp and substituted the one in the extracted driver package, of course. If I try installing without copying the inf, it says hardware not supported right from the outset.

There is this PhysX download as well - I clicked it to download, but actually, the exe got executed straight away and installed - that worked, apparently.

The funny thing is that I have downloaded the broken driver from here and worked with an original inf with my card added...

I cleaned out the old driver (298.18) with driversweeper, and removed all nVidia keys from the registry. I also removed the keys to my GT330M from registry ControlSET1, 2 and CurrentControlset. After that I also ran CCLeaner -Regcleaner. The system is all clean, and I've done the rename of nvidia-smi.1.pd to nvidia-smi.1.pd_. But it still fails during install. But driver 295.18 from here works fine, so rollback to 295.18....
