Dell seems to no longer update their FTP server with updated drivers.
Even selecting driver support via website there are no new drivers.

Seems as of the beginning of November Dell driver support has just stopped.
Am I missing something or is something afoot.
Not just nVidia drivers, AMD and Intel are also no longer updated.

Dell used to be a good supplier of driver updates, why most of the laptops I buy are Dells.
Can anyone shed some light on this ?

I noticed that too - search.euro.dell.com reports "Attention: Latest drivers are temporarily unavailable in search results!"

If you look at the root of DELL's FTP you will see atm 4300 new folders named FOLDER*M
That's where the new drivers and other software are hidden.

I saw that yeah, but I had a look around and manually picked some Notebooks from support page and looked at the driver dates.
There is nothing newer than the 1st of Nov for nVidia

Unless Dell has an included driver support app that looks into the folders on the FTP and updates as needed.

I've noticed the same thing with Dell. Strangely, they seem to have infected Station Drivers. Mostly Gigabyte BIOS updates there these days - not much else.

Maybe everyone is busy writing Windows 8 drivers?

Just out of curiousity i made a full search on DELL FTP
It takes about 3 hours on a DSL 25000 connection...

Try them if you have trouble with SUBSYS IDs / certificates etc.

I now feel kind of guilty going to Dell's FTP, the drivers are all dusty and you have to move around quietly

WDDM 1.2 might probably be quite a bit thing, with both more stable and higher performing drivers in Windows 8 DP already outperforming current Windows 7 drivers.

My only doubt is if there will be any support for WDDM 1.2 in Windows 7 through a hotfix or a Service Pack.

It isn't just video drivers... they've just basically stopped doing driver updates period.. cutting back on support because of falling sales??....

Well i'm pretty pissed at Dell. I just bought 4 Alienware M17xR3 laptops for my company
and drivers are our biggest problems, and just a couple of minuites ago i found that
2 of them have batteries with more than 4.3% wear on them and they are only about 2 weeks
old and dell just giving me the runaround.. the video drivers havent been updated
i've had to install the beta driver they have there and i get no where with support.
i'll be taking my business else where and i have more than 2.5M in hardware in our server room from
dell, this is f**king unacceptable.

Ah, yes Dell seems to have stopped all driver support, something is afoot.

The battery will slowly loose it's ability to hold a charge this is normal.
The best practice is to not run the batteries flat or too low as this will accelerate the 'wear'
My trusty old Dell I9400 still holds a very good charge even after all these years, it's normally plugged in.
My Wife's old Latitude D820 battery died a couple of years ago as she would run it flat/low quite often.

But no driver support agreed is quite unacceptable, and not good for return customers
