Good evening everyone,

I have a ASUS N73JF-TY004V laptop, and here's my configuration :

- OS : Windows 7 64 bits
- RAM : 4 GB
- CPU : IntelCore i5 M 450 (2.40 GHz)
- Graphic cards : Intel HD Graphics as an integrated graphic card + NVIDIA GT 425 M (1 GB VRAM)

I'm using quite an old version of the NVIDIA driver which is the 275.33 WHQL, dated 5 may 2011 for what is about the Inf file (this driver is also identified in my devices manager as : 8.17.12.7533).

(Still for information, the last driver version proposed by ASUS website to download for my laptop is : 8.17.12.6114 dated 24 november 2011, and nothing since then)

The reason why i'm using such an old driver version is that I'm going through problems with every updates of my graphic card drivers since that 275.33 version : more precisely in my case, the latest versions create problems either when switching from a user account to an other (this I noticed with the 280.26 version), or for what is about the later versions (285.62 ; 296.10 ; 301.42), the video freezes when playing a movie and trying to change languages or subtitles.

It's only since a few weeks that I'm aware of that problem of laptop graphic cards not really supported by both NVIDIA and the OEM, and it's only since two days that I found out your website which seems very interesting from what I understand of it, but sadly I'm not very comfortable to read technical details in english as I'm French, that's why I'm a bit lost on here, especially for what is about the NVIDIA series and what driver version to choose exactly.

So I was wondering, is there any chance that I can find on here a driver version which would allow me to play my movies right, as well as simply updating my graphic card for better performances ? If so, thanks for guiding me a little bit and showing me what version to download, so that I can give it a try.

Thanking in advance any member passing by and replying to this post, I wish you all a good evening.

Most Asus mobile driver releases do support only the latest cards - but there are a couple of drivers released lately that seem to support a large list of also older Asus notebooks. The latest atm. is http://laptopvideo2g...224_win7x64.exe but some pre 3.xx drivers do exist, too - check yourself . Probably the best option to get a working driver is from dedicated Asus drivers. And Asus online support sucks.

Hello Zipper anf first of all thank you for your answer : well I tried the link you gave me, but sadly that driver does not solve my problems. Anyway, I'll keep on checking the site from times to times. By the way there was no additional inf file proposed to download with this driver - but I've checked the inf file included in the one you proposed me to try and my graphic card is "enabled" in it.

You tell me about "ASUS mobile driver releases", I suppose you talk about drivers released by the team on here, as for what is about ASUS themselves, I supppose that if they had a newest driver for my laptop it would be proposed for download on my laptop page on ASUS website.

Also, you're suggesting that I try a pre 3.XX driver, so far I assumed my graphic card was a 4.XX serie, just by its name (GT 425 M), so why trying one of these pre 3.XX drivers ?

Anyway, thanks for your help and have a good day.

If you do search drivers from Asus support site you won't get too far - they don't bother to put links to newer drivers even when they do produce them. You can browse thru lv2go driver section to find drivers. - 1. Drivers made by Asus - they may support or not your hardware. 2. NVidia OEM drivers - principally support your hardware but may not have some Asus special (if they do exist) properties. These 1. and 2. do work without modified inf. Then 3. all drivers, using the modified inf, may miss something Asus special.
When having problems it's best to start from group 1. There's a long list of Asus mobile drivers to check - here are the newest of 2.9xx drivers, you can go further down if none of these is good...
296.97 296.90 296.67 296.44... http://forums.laptop...driver-release/

The driver series (2.xxx, 3.xxx) have nothing to do with your card being 4.xxx series.

Hello Zipper and thank you for your explanations. That last link you gave me is interesting because it shows some "ASUS mobile" drivers, i'll try one of these when I have time for it, and in case one of these drivers solves my problem, then I'll let it know on here (ASUS is really wonderful, they don't give the link to their new drivers even when they've released some, what do they do with them, keeping them for mates or close family ? ^^).

Anyway thanks for your help, it seems that I have a lot of testing to do now !
