mobilenvidia
Last week I bought a Crucial MX300 525GB M.2 SATA SSD and a Samsung EVO 500GB M.2 SATA Pricing has come down drastically and now but mere cents per Gigabyte. The MX300 made it into my Wife's laptop, and I got the EVO So now that it's all setup here is a quick blurb on my thoughts I have a HP Envy 15-k208tx with a 1.5TB HDD, 16GB RAM and a i7 5500u By far the biggest bottle neck has been the HDD, I could rarely max out the Wifi connection due to HDD maxing out. The difference with magnetic storage vs Silicon is huge. First picture is the 1.5TB drive chugging along, taking ages to boot. 2nd Picture is the newly installed EVO with OS installed on it. Boot time is now mere seconds (ie about 5 to the login screen) 3rd Picture is with 'Rapid Mode' enabled Word of warning, the Data Migration Apps (Download from Samusung and Acronis from Crucial) that clone HDD to SSD both don't work on HDD larger than the SSD Both give you a flashing screen at bootup. I assume this due to the Partition on the HDD being larger than the SSD can hold and the SW not being smart enough to allow for this and adapt its size I ended up using an excellent free App Macrium Reflect. I did need to resize my partitions to make it all fit, but the app allowed me to select which partitions to move (other Samsung and Acronis apps try to copy everything with no choice) But if you are changing over, start fresh and do a clean install of the OS Overall well worth the money. Infinity7
I haven't done any benchmarking on my new Crucial. It's doing well though.
mobilenvidia
Its going so well, I don't bother with sleep anymore better to just shut down. Booting up takes but seconds, must do a quick video of this. Crucial MX300 behaves similar in my Wife's computer Hard to compare as different setups but would consider the Samsung slightly more perky But both are very good choices. No looking back, no more booting from Spindles for me.
