This guide is to show you how to use have-disk method to install your drivers step by step on Windows XP. If you are looking for the way to install on Windows 7 / Vista please read this topic instead.

Basic Information

Have disk method is a way to install a driver that does not have any setup program to install itself automatically. In principle what we are doing is showing Windows where drivers are located. Driver installation scripts are written in *.inf files so a driver must have these files. We will now manually locate these scripts and install drivers.

You can download and watch [Driver Install Movie] [DivX codec required] made by Bill.

Before you begin, make sure you have read Posted ImageForceware Updater's Quickstart Guide and General FAQ to have background info and select appropriate drivers (in this case drivers for your nVidia graphics card).

Walkthrough

Step 1 - Download and extract driver file

Posted Image
After installing *.exe driver package to your desktop (in this case 8425.exe), double click to open self extractor and press Extract button. After process is complete, you will see a new folder on your desktop (in this case 8425).

Step 2 - Download and replace inf file

Get appropriate driver inf file (Modded INF) and click on the link to download it to your desktop.

After downloading INF file, move it to the extracted driver folder.

Step 3 - Go to device manager

Select Install from a list or specific location (Advanced) and click Next.

Select Don't search. I will choose the driver to install and click Next.

Click Next to proceed. This might take a while.

Select Have Disk....

Select Browse and open the extracted driver folder. If you see one or more *inf files in the folder - select one and click Open as it does not matter which one you selected as long as they are in the same driver folder.

Posted Image
You should now see name of your device if you have done the previous steps correct. Click Next to continue.

Posted Image
Windows will ask your approval since when INF is modified, driver will lose WHQL certificate. Select Continue anyway.

And glory screen! Close all windows and restart your computer.

Final Words and Troubleshooting

If you want to roll back to your previous driver, go to Device Manager -> Display Adapters -> "Your Card" , double click to open its properties and click 'Roll Back Driver' button.

If you want to know more about Modded INF and other related topics, you can check FAQ section. Here are some highlights; Please post any comments, suggestions, questions and other information related to the driver in its own thread.
Additionally, use of the Forum's Search function is recommended.
If you still have a general problem that is not related with the specific driver, please post in the Support section.

Don't forget to check Software , Tools, Utilities & Customized INFs section for good software and INFs made for specific laptops, and Device Drivers section to keep your other drivers up-to-date as well.
