atreides
I had this black bar problem too. I've got a Toshiba 2410-404 with a GeForce4 420 Go 32MB. The Bios is a 4.17.00.41.C7, SubSys is 0x00011179 and the display's got a 1024x768 resoultion, the edid_disp is attached. Under "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Enum\DISPLAY" I've got NVD0000 and TOS5082 listed. I used the 1024-inf from Teraphy' 61.76_Black_Bar_Fixes.zip with the corresponding drivers and it works now! Thanks a lot guys, you rock!!! edid_disp.zip
Craig Corp
Theraphy and MiniSteve, I've been out of town for a few days and just got back and got MiniSteve's PM as well as a chance to look at the forum. I can't believe it, you've done it!!! I tried 61.72 with Theraphy's nv4_disp_TOS5086.inf and its working with NO BLACK BAR - fantastic :) You guys are the best! I hope you can continue to include the fix in infs for new driver versions as they come out...
Craig Corp
Just for completeness, I just installed 61.76 with the corresponding 1400x1050 fix inf and it works too :) It is fast and I am so grateful!
Teraphy
I still have no idea how to generally include it. I'm thinking of making a PHP page for just this issue. It'll just take Pieter's INF, add the appropriate line(s) and away you go. BTW, welcome to all those happy Toshiba users just playing with the 60 series :) I'm glad I could help make all of you happy :) Lots of praise should go to Ministeve for being the QA person :P

ministeve
I'm really happy it's working for most of you. Craig Corp, could you find out why exactly it went wrong last time you installed? Display number not matching?
Guest kudraw
Hi! This is my configuration: Toshiba Satellite 2410-303 GeForce 4Go 420 32MB bios 4.17.00.41.C7 with 61.72 + 1024 inf of Teraphy no black bar issue :) but I can't return from standby :) Some ideas? (sorry for my english)
ministeve
but I can't return from standby :) Some ideas? It's an old problem. It's likely to be caused by HKR,, MapOSD3ToNV, %REG_DWORD%, 3 I'm using HKR,, MapOSD3ToNV, %REG_DWORD%, 2 as suggested elsewhere by mobilenvidia. Craig Corp
MiniSteve, I can't figure out why Theraphy's initial 1400x1050 along with 1600x1200 fix inf had the behavior it did. As you already know, I did not get OverrideEDIDFlags keys in the registry with that inf. With his new seperate resolution fix infs, I get OverrideEDIDFlags0, 1 and 2 keys in the appropritate registry folder. That seems to be the key to having it work :)
Craig Corp
Boris, You should be ablew to create an inf for 62.20 yourself (I have). Simply use Pieter's 30.20 inf, but copy the [nv_SoftwareDeviceSettings] section from your existing working 61.76 or 61.80 inf over the corresponding section in 30.20 (this will add the OverrideEDIDFlags fix to 30.20). Install 62.20 using the modified 30.20 and it should work :)

Tenstrum
Hey guys! Been away from the forum for awhile. What is the latest working driver/inf that I can use for my laptop and do I need to make a registry edit to keep from getting a black bar? Kinda got lost and confused trying to read all the posts... Guest X_AnarChisT_X
Hello everybody! Even though this is my first post on these forums, i have been visiting this website ever since this site opened. I stumbled upon it when looking up at madtoasts modded inf's. I would just like to say thank you very much for all of the time you have spent to correct the stupid black bar problem. Since toshiba never updates their drivers, i had to turn somewhere else, and im glad to see so many others are looking for the same exact solution. And now that the problem has been fixed, I can gladly update my drivers to run todays games and applications smoothly. :) Thank you very much!!! Guest Dape
Dape, appreciate the info and the response to this thread. However I believe in your case I'll also need your BIOS. I am under the impression things will be different on your BIOS.I have not run into an OEM build of B5 unless it was mistyped? C5? Your comment on SP1 could be a reason of the black bar. Also if you are attempting to install a newer build of 44.XX which was recently built then this will also contain the new black bar issue. If you were using the same 44.XX on SP1 as you are using now on the clean install then yes that is news. I'll finally be going through all the info posted again to double/triple check things. Thanks to everyone for posting the edid info :) Well it's not mistyped. Check this out: http://dape.klodzko.pl/pics ther's jpg with screenshot. O. And it was the same drivers with same inf file (burned them on cd when first found out working). Right now i've got SP1 and newest DX and on these drivers there is no black bar. I've also managed to run 52.16 (with inf from laptopvideo2go). I'll post my bios later - kind of busy :) right now ! greets
Guest Edouard
Hello in there :) I just managed to have the 420 Go working on my Toshiba Satellite Pro 2100, with the very latests drivers and INF (66.00 / 30.28) from Pieter. I just had to patch the inf to override the wrong EDIDs, to get rid of the BB issue. Everything works fine so far, dual display and games. I couldn't test TV-out yet. By the way, I wonder if I'm the only one with a SP 2100 here !? I haven't seen anyone with the same machine in all the threads I read... I think the SP 2100 is some kind of a SP 6100 with a smaller display (14"). The good EDID mode to use is the 1024x768 one, as it is the display's native resolution. Thanks to everyone there for bringing us up to date drivers and supporting us ! FastFret
I'm a little confused here about where to find the new inf for Toshiba. I'm using 61.76 with the black bar fixed INF (everything running PERFECTLY). Now I have the SP2 with DX 9c and need the 61.77 with black bar fixed INF (for the sake of Doom 3, which is NOT running perfectly). Where's the 61.77 black bar fixed INF ? Guest davidh44
66.00 driver with 30.29 inf (modified) is working great on my Toshiba 1415-S173 with nVidia GeForce4 420go 16MB. I was previously using 45.23 with an old Teraphy inf, which had worked flawlessly without any additional modification needed. For those who don't want to comb through all 5 pages, here are the pertinent steps: 1. Add the appropriate code for your resolution to the inf file. (from Teraphy's post) Here are the additions under [nv_SoftwareDeviceSettings]:1024x0768 HKR,, OverrideEdidFlags0, %REG_BINARY%, 3A,C4,00,00,00,00,FF,FF,04,00,00,00,36,12,64,19,00,40,41,00,26,30,18,88,36,00,1E D7,10,00,00,18 HKR,, OverrideEdidFlags1, %REG_BINARY%, 3A,C4,00,02,00,00,FF,FF,04,00,00,00,36,12,64,19,00,40,41,00,26,30,18,88,36,00,1E D7,10,00,00,18 1400x1050 HKR,, OverrideEdidFlags0, %REG_BINARY%, 3A,C4,00,03,00,00,FF,FF,04,00,00,00,36,12,30,2A,78,20,51,1A,10,40,30,70,13,00,31 E5,10,00,00,18 HKR,, OverrideEdidFlags1, %REG_BINARY%, 3A,C4,00,04,00,00,FF,FF,04,00,00,00,36,12,30,2A,78,20,51,1A,10,40,30,70,13,00,31 E5,10,00,00,18 HKR,, OverrideEdidFlags2, %REG_BINARY%, 3A,C4,00,00,00,00,FF,FF,04,00,00,00,36,12,30,2A,78,20,51,1A,10,40,30,70,13,00,31 E5,10,00,00,18 1600x1200 HKR,, OverrideEdidFlags0, %REG_BINARY%, 3A,C4,00,04,00,00,FF,FF,04,00,00,00,36,12,48,3F,40,30,62,B0,32,40,40,C0,13,00,31 E5,10,00,00,18 HKR,, OverrideEdidFlags1, %REG_BINARY%, 3A,C4,00,06,00,00,FF,FF,04,00,00,00,36,12,48,3F,40,30,62,B0,32,40,40,C0,13,00,31 E5,10,00,00,18 HKR,, OverrideEdidFlags2, %REG_BINARY%, 3A,C4,00,00,00,00,FF,FF,04,00,00,00,36,12,48,3F,40,30,62,B0,32,40,40,C0,13,00,31 E5,10,00,00,18 2. If you get a blank screen when returning from standby, change the code in the inf as follows: (from ministeve's post) It's an old problem. Guest HSK
I have a Toshiba 5105-S501 (GeForce4 440) and I now have the black bar down the right side of the screen since I installed XP SP2. From what I have read here, I can use 61.77/30.25 to correct this. Do I HAVE to make changes in the system registry to make it function? Or just load it and drop the 30.25 in the folder? Thanks! Teraphy
PHP BlackBar Fixer You can either edit the registry with the current SP2 drivers and reboot or install 61.77 with the a INF generated from the PHP page (link above) and you'll be fine. Pieter's INFs do not contain the fix since screen sizes vary. Thus the page above will generate an appropriate file from Pieter's current INFs.
