This driver INF is for the current 80 Series drivers pertaining to the Quadro4 700 GoGL gpu for Dell Systems. There has been a major change with this INF: it is strictly and only for the Quadro4 700 GoGL card. I have taken the other cards support out simply to make it cleaner, less cluttered, and more to the point. I apologize if this may cause any inconvenience. If there is, then just PM me or post me here so I can accommodate you.

With this INF I've noticed that there has been in an improvement in "painting" windows and dialogue boxes in the Windows GUI itself. If you own a Quadro4 700 GoGL, then give this INF a try. Also, with the 8x.xx driver set, nVidia seems to have listened to us and fixed the Black & White TV-Out issues that we seemed to have been having in the past. :) :)

You can also access the new control panel from this driver by right-clicking on the desktop and selecting "NVIDIA Control Panel".

Coolbits has not been enabled, however if you would like to, it has just been disabled by default for this INF. Just go to the area called "Coolbits" and change it to a value of 3 instead of 1. Then just save and reinstall.

Side-Band Addressing has also been disabled. If you want to turn it back on, just change this line within the INF and reinstall the driver:
HKR,, EnableAGPSBA,[tab][/tab][tab][/tab][tab][/tab] %REG_DWORD%,	0
to
HKR,, EnableAGPSBA,[tab][/tab][tab][/tab][tab][/tab] %REG_DWORD%,	1

**Updated to version 1.2 & 1.4 respectively (see below for description): Original Dell INF with Omega Performance Tweaks, Extra Options, and a more thorough uninstall process. Thank you to everyone here at the www.laptopvideo2go.com community for helping me on this.

1.02c: Fix PowerMizer was not enabled. Set NoPages to 0
1.03c: Added support for nvhwvid.dll file. As well as the nvgfx.dll file from Larry's INF. Dell used to use this file...
1.03d: Made it compatible with 71.89's (Everything is really the same, just the "[version]" is changed)
1.04: Ready'ed INF for the 77.72's driver set. However, do be careful, as these drivers still cannot display powermizer settings conrrectly. Also, there has been a report from Larry that these drivers keep flipping into clone mode when trying to set the gamma.
1.05: Updated INF for new nVidia WHQL'ed 77.77's
1.05a: Cleaned up some install routines so there isn't a nvcplins.dll error during install.
1.1g: Completely revised INF this is for the new 8x.xx driver set only.
1.1h: Added support for "DualViewAllow2ndViewAsPrimary" as Bill requested :P
1.1i: Added SmartDimmer support to driver. Let me know how it is :( (Special thank you to Pieter and over @ TweaksRus.com Anonymous poster)
1.1j: Removed SmartDimmer, as it does not apply to our cards and does not work either. If you would like to reenable SmartDimmer, remove the ";" in front of the "EnableBrightnessControl". Changed a few settings for system stability. Hibernate and Standby seems to be working consistently now.
1.2: "EnableAGPSBA" has been disabled due to stability issues when running on battery.
1.4: Cleaned up code and added 83.90 driver INF which inculdes "sedona" (new control panel) support. Version 1.4 is just for driver set 83.90 84.xx series.

Does the rotate page work for you?
My I suggest changing all instances of this:
HKR,, RotateFlag, %REG_DWORD%, 0
to this:
HKR,, RotateFlag, %REG_DWORD%, 4
Also, you could change coolbits to this
HKLM,"SOFTWARE\NVIDIA Corporation\Global\NVTweak", CoolBits,   %REG_DWORD%, 0x1
Also, what do you think about the naming system in the Dell INF?
Dell 8200 doesn't quit cut it for me, so I went and put these in my modded one. (feel free to use)
NVIDIA_NV11.DEV_0112.1  = "NVIDIA GeForce2 Go (Dell 8000)"
NVIDIA_NV11.DEV_0112.2  = "NVIDIA GeForce2 Go (Dell 8200)"
NVIDIA_NV11.DEV_0112.3  = "NVIDIA GeForce2 Go (Dell C840)"
NVIDIA_NV11.DEV_0112.4  = "NVIDIA GeForce2 Go (Dell C610)"
NVIDIA_NV11.DEV_0112.5  = "NVIDIA GeForce2 Go (Dell 4100)"
NVIDIA_NV11.DEV_0112.6  = "NVIDIA GeForce2 Go (Dell C810)"
NVIDIA_NV11.DEV_0112.7  = "NVIDIA GeForce2 Go (Dell 8100)"
NVIDIA_NV11.DEV_0112.8  = "NVIDIA GeForce2 Go (Dell 2650)"
NVIDIA_NV11.DEV_0112.9  = "NVIDIA GeForce2 Go (Dell V740)"
NVIDIA_NV11.DEV_0112.10 = "NVIDIA GeForce2 Go"
NVIDIA_NV11.DEV_0112.11 = "NVIDIA GeForce2 Go "
NVIDIA_NV11.DEV_0112.12 = "NVIDIA GeForce2 Go  "
NVIDIA_NV11.DEV_0112.13 = "NVIDIA GeForce2 Go   "
NVIDIA_NV11.DEV_0113.1  = "NVIDIA Quadro2 Go (Dell M40)"
NVIDIA_NV11.DEV_0113.2  = "NVIDIA Quadro2 Go (Dell M40)"
NVIDIA_NV11.DEV_0113.3  = "NVIDIA Quadro2 Go (Dell M40)"
NVIDIA_NV11.DEV_0113.4  = "NVIDIA Quadro2 Go (Dell M40)"
NVIDIA_NV17.DEV_0174.1  = "NVIDIA GeForce4 440 Go 64 MB (Dell 8200)"
NVIDIA_NV17.DEV_0174.2  = "NVIDIA GeForce4 440 Go (Dell C840)"
NVIDIA_NV17.DEV_0174.3  = "NVIDIA GeForce4 440 Go (Dell Mobile)"
NVIDIA_NV17.DEV_0174.4  = "NVIDIA GeForce4 440 Go (Dell Mobile)"
NVIDIA_NV17.DEV_017C.1  = "NVIDIA Quadro4 500 GoGL (M50)"
NVIDIA_NV17.DEV_017C.2  = "NVIDIA Quadro4 500 GoGL (M50)"
I also see that you commented this line out, which was a good move.
HKCU,Software\"NVIDIA Corporation"\Global\NVTweak,MenuEdit,%REG_SZ%,"1:0000:#27,Troubleshooting:#146,Change Resolutions:#140,Refresh Rate Overrides:"
I hope I never see that enabled in a custom INF again, as it disables your newly enabled pages and caused me a lot of confusion till I figured out which tweak it was in my INF. (it was staring me in the face)
Also, it wouldn't hurt to remove this line entirely:
HKLM,Software\"NVIDIA Corporation"\Global\NVTweak\OemConfigurations,FilterResolutions,%REG_DWORD%,0x00000005
That is another move on Dell's part to give us less features I suppose.
I might have to take a look at some of those other tweaks you added, and give appropriate credit if I stick them in my modded Dell INFs.
Also, I assume you can attach stuff larger than 100 KB because you are a moderator, which is neat I guess, but I think you should stick the INF in a good 'ol fashioned zip file, which makes it a whole lot smaller. This INF is less than 14 KB when zipped, as proven by my attachment.
While SFX archives are neat and all, they take up a lot more space, making the INF be around 70ish KB even when in the 7z format that we use for drivers over here.
One last thing I would suggest is putting your info about the inf at the very top above the "NVIDIA Windows 2000/XP Display INF file" line, preferrably with a space in between them.
Anyway your INF looks pretty good! :)

Bill

Edit: When I have time I might try this thing out and tell you how it goes on my GF 440 GO 64 MB.

Thanks for the tips Bill, I appreciate it. I have made the appropriate changes as you have requested, they seem like great advice :)

I have uploaded a new INF on the original posting.

Question though: setting coolbits to 0x1 does what exactly? I tried testing that out, but did not see any changes (unless I missed them? :) )

Also, since we don't know what exactly this does, I have left it in for the time being. Removing it doesn't add anything new, it actually takes longer for the driver page to load up with it removed:
HKLM,Software\"NVIDIA Corporation"\Global\NVTweak\OemConfigurations,FilterResolutions,%REG_DWORD%,0x00000005

Thanks again

Interesting, didn't know it took longer, but that tweak looks like it disables certain resolutions, although I certainly could be wrong.
As for the coolbits tweak, it disables the overclocking page and enables the Direct3D settings page.
You can visit my tweak thread for more info.
http://forums.laptop...?showtopic=6810
One thing you could do, is stick the coolbits tweak you had in the driver with the ; in front of it, but put mine in there without it, so it would install just the advanced D3D settings page, but not the OC page.
If you removed the comment on yours and had it placed after mine in the INF, it could enabled overclocking and the advanced D3D page.
You would not need to place a ; in front of mine to do that.
If you are reading this Pieter, it might be a good idea to put something like this in your INF, you could tell in the INF how to choose either the profile page or the OpenGl page, and people could also choose which coolbits they want by removing the ;, although you could still have the ffffffff value as the default.
Hope these suggestions are usefull.

Bill

You don't need the 0x in the Coolbits line. The values are as follows:

Coolbits 1 = Additional 3D Settings page only.
Coolbits 2 = Overclocking page only
Coolbits 3 = Both Pages
Coolbits 0 = Neither page.

Yeah, I found that setting it to 5 helps it load quicker. What resolutions are there that would be ommited with it being a 5? Let me know.

I set CoolBits to a value of 1. Thanks guys :)

Thank you LSudlow and Bill :)

I'm not sure what resolutions it omits, but it seems to be a pretty standard setting for laptops so I've been using it. I should play with it one of these days and find out for sure what it does.

I found this thread on Google. I purchased an Inspiron 8200 3 years ago (1GB RAM, NV440 Go) but my current work is stressing the video card (3D design). I would like to upgrade it. I found references to the M50 and I8200 as though they were the same laptop. Is it the same? I would like to use the Quadro4 700 Go GL (6X935), but it is not listed as a card officially supported on this laptop. Is there a hack to make this work? Where is the best place to get the card?

Thanks!

Best place is probably Dell, best chance of getting a working one. (you will probably lose atleast $300 in the process..... :) )
As far as getting it to work, the upgrade is not the easiest thing in the world, but you should be able to do it.
There are a number of guides, even ones on the Dell forums somewhere.
Now you might have to reflash your BIOS or something, and maybe get speciallized drivers with a screen fix if you get that problem.
While I have not done the upgrade myself, others on this forum have and should chime in here.
If you do need any fix this is the place to come, we can certainly help you out.
You might have to give us some screen info if we determine that you might have problems, but that is much easier these days thanks to NERD.
If would save you the hassle of finding out your system specs to use that and post the log for us, especially if you have on of the problematic screens, but, to get the right screen info you might have to use an old driver, I would suggest posting which LCD screen your laptop has, and wait for someone that has done the upgrade to post.
You can run the tool if you want, but since you might have to run it again anyway with older drivers to get the fix, maybe you should wait if it is too much of a hassle for you.
I would like to point out though, that since they have found these fixes before, if you get the screen problem, you could probably just copy one of the known fixes into the driver INF and then your set.

Hope this info is usefull, the upgrade is probably definitely worth it if you have the money, and would actually use the Quadro functions.
You should also be carefull when talking to Dell, as I have heard they are not always eager to sell I8200 users that card, or atleast they didn't use to be....
(If you give them your phone number or Service tag, they will know what you have bought, and that you don't own the M50 or whatever)
Anyway I'll stop blabbering :) and let somebody that has done the upgrade talk for a bit, but I think I covered a good portion of stuff already...

As Bill has stated, you can order it from Dell 6X935 is the correct part number. Also, the upgrade isn't that bad. All you basically have to do is remove the keyboard, which are 4 screws marked "K" underneath the system and pop off the power button cover. From there, you unhook the LCD flex-cable and unscrew the video card from it's 2 silver screws. I recommend upgrading the BIOS for the i8200, however one isn't necessary. The card costs about $319 USD. I wonder if they have reduced the price...

Let us know if there is anything else and good luck! :)

Kamika, how is the heat with that upgrade?
It might be possible that heat has damaged my 440 go (not sure but getting graphics corruption, even in windows) and I might do teh ultimate I8200 GF card upgrade.
Anyway should I attempt that heat mod with the copper block?
Or something else?
Or should I just install it and hope it fixes my problems. (and make my games run faster)
If its not my graphics card that is busted, it might be my mobo or cables...... :)

Bill,

If you're getting graphics corruption, I would try removing the video card and inspect it for any type of clutter/dust around it. I've had a couple defective Quadro4 gogl's from Dell (apparently they don't check them too well) and I tried the copper mod, but really didn't have that much success. If you would want to upgrade to the Quadro4 that would be really the best choice.

This is odd though: On my Inspiron 8100, (it's a 1Ghz 256MB ram XP machine), I put in my old GeForce4 440 Go 32MB card and I can run Counter-Strike Source PERFECTLY on dx7, while on the Quadro4 I run dx7 and while it runs well, however it manages to have some "hitches" along the way at times. I even turned off all of the "Quadro" specific functions via RivaTuner for my card, but it still has to struggle at times. Then again, CSS is a flawed game, and I haven't tried the i8100 on the graphics intensive parts/levels.

Anyway, I'm rambling... :)

To Everyone:

BTW: Everyone, an updated INF will be released for the new WHQL'ed 77.72's soon! :)

Thanks

In this thread, you mention easy fixes in case one has a problematic screen.

I already asked in another thread, but here goes again:

Please Help :)
I've got a Inspiron 8200 nvidia Geforce4 440 Go 32MB. After installing the driver and restarting WinXP, my max resolution is only 1400x1050 and I've got a color bar (1") on the right side of the desktop.
I've faced this problem in linux and the problem is, the driver's unable to detect the video mode. This could be corrected by changing the drivers parameter. I'm not sure how to do this in win. Could someone please help me?

Thanks.

Try the fix mentioned in the thread "FIX: LCD SEC3255=1600x1200 shows only 1400x1050" in the FAQ section.
