Thanks for the download link. Does any additional software or driver layer need to sit on top of this for me to detect bluetooth devices?

Yes the Bluetooth stack. Though it is not related to this thread about IR drivers :)
Seach the forum and you find sn0wl's posts about TOSHiBA' BlueTooth stack software.

EDIT: it's over here: http://forums.laptop...showtopic=10152

Just installed Windows 7 Ultimate (32 bit) on a Dell Precision M70.

This driver fixed the only (!) notice on my Devices Manager list.

WORKS GREAT with WINDOWS 7 Ultimate.

Despite what Dell says, the M70 runs Windows 7 just fine.

Thanks...

how about driver v6.2.6000.2 for win7 (32&64bit)
http://solutions.us....C47-0007-01.EXE

This may actually work for XP as well. :)

oops, no smcf040 in the inf, though. Updating from an earlier version may not work unless forced, due a possible change in manufacturer name (smc to smsc).
:)
