I see that there are 5 different versions of 78.11 on the Dell server.

I have read that the 78.10s had a performace drop, so I would assume that the 78.11s would have a similar drop as well.

I agree with you. I have a dell 8600 with that video card (64M). And for the wow, with old driver, the fps is about 14 and only 5 or 6 fps with the new driver.

Do not understand the reason, and a possible one is that those new drivers are in fact optimized only for new nvidia cards.

These drivers will be optimised for the go6x00 range and the upcoming go7x00 range.

Guest Zypher48

Pardon my n00b-ness, but I was browsing the FTP site, and noticed there were a whole bunch of files released the same day, just slightly different sizes..

ie:

R105216.exe 23092 kb

R105340.exe 23150 kb

R105341.exe 23149 kb

R105342.exe 23149 kb

R105464.exe 23154 kb

R105465.exe 23154 kb

R105659.exe 25721 kb

My question is, what is the differece? I see from the forums here that R1053432.exe is the 78.XX version of the nvidia drivers, but does that mean R105659.exe would be the same driver version? or a differently tweaked version?

Thanks for any help or clarification... I have the following system:

Inspiron XPS Gen 2

Pentium M 760

2Gb Ram

60 hdd

geForce go6800 ultra PCIe driver ver. 77.72

Thanks again!! Just want to update my drivers to the most current.

From the experience of past DELL release i bet they only are different in the modes.txt, version.txt and the INF is missing a Go card here and there. Nothing unusual, best thing is get our release, Pieters' INF and youre all set. :)

The only main differences with the 5 78.11 drivers from Dell was the INFs supported slightly different GPU's and subystems.

I uploaded the WHQL version the other 4 were not.

Dell obviously has no worries with FTP space as all those INFs could have been combined.

Go figure.

Thanks for the great site

I have a problem with the last modiefied drivers

they don't play video for me, i can here the sound but the screen is black (in windowed and fullscreen mode) I tested it with a couple of players like mediaplayer, Winddvd, quicktime and so on. with the non modiefied DELL Driver 78.11 everything works fine, but i don't have the more resolutions to choose and the other benefits from pieters modified inf.

I own a Dell Precision M60 with a Nividia Quadro FX Go1000 Video Card

So maybe anyone on this board has the same problem and maybe has a solution for me?

At the time i run modiefied 72.03 with no problems

Thanx for your advertence

Enable VMR in the Display Properties under Video Overlay Properties.

This should fix your problems with video. (fingers crossed)

Welcome to the jungle :)

Sometimes after the new driver install, with the first, perhaps second restart. 78.11 had problems with temperature settings and fan speed in my Acer.

Guest chaz60

Upgraded my Inspiron 9300 with 78.10-78.11...performance seems real

good and my only issue is with both of these my GPU temps have really

jumped from the Dell drivers.

Dell drivers were always staying within 39-45 C no matter how many loops of 3DMark03-05 I made. Same with playing Doom3 and Sacred.

78.10/78.11 the temps bounced up from an idle 47 to 54 in Benchmarks/Gameplay.

Anyone else having this issue or what know whats causing this?

chaz60 - do the Dell 78.11 drivers give you the same temperature increases as the modified 78.11 drivers?
