Guest Aaron
My specs are below, I'm not sure how much someone would need. Basically, everytime I try to play a game(lately it's been Fable and Black and White 2), I can get about 30 minutes of play before my whole laptop just shuts off. Just turns off. I then have to hit the power button again to turn it back on. I was worried this was a driver problem, but everything I've tried to download or update has given me this message when i get to the installer: "The NVIDIA Setup Program could not locate any drivers that is compatible with your current hardwarde. Setup will not exit." My driver is dated back to March of '05, so I know that must be it or something. Can anyone please point me in the right direction? Please? II. LSudlow
You also need to download the modified inf that goes with the driver you want. Copy it into the driver folder, overwriting the inf that's in the driver set, and reinstall.
Guest Aaron
You also need to download the modified inf that goes with the driver you want. Copy it into the driver folder, overwriting the inf that's in the driver set, and reinstall. I recently did this and am still having a problem. Would you happen to know which driver specifically I should get? It's a real pain to not be able to play a game for a half hour without a total shutdown... Guest Aaron
Hmm, I updated everything just as you said, but my laptop still shuts down after 30 minutes or so of play. What the hell could be causing this?
Guest Aaron
Could it be something outside the card?

®®®
heat? Try clean your fans ... or let Alienware Support decide what is causing the shutdown.
rideroyals
cleaning fans dont help too much its just a hassle for me. my best guess is due to overheating. same thing happened with my Alienware area-51 7700. it wont shut down like urs but it gave me horrible frames. now i hit 100 max in CS ect. try a cooling pad. this is the one i got http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?...N82E16834999413 you can really see the difference. when your laptop is running cooler

Alienware M7700. Had to replace video card. The 6800 has a bad problem of over heating because the heat sink and fan are to small, bad design.
