Installed the 84.21's exactly how you show. Everything appears to be working fine. It did not ask me to restart like how the last step says it should. I restarted myself. The drivers are installed and working, clock freq's are right, temperature is showing. Do I not worry about it? I definitely replaced the old INF file with the new one. Any thoughts? Thanks.

You could post the NERD logfile and we will tell you :) Or check the driver properties in the Device Manager. That should do the job. Or WIN+R then DXDIAG

The drivers here are recompressed (much better) than on nVidia to save some bandwith and for people with old telephone lines to not have to wait 10hours or something for only 1 driver :)

They do their job verry good here :)

Why there isn't an enhanced inf for the 84.21, but only for 84.20? Or can i use the enhanced 84.20 inf for the 84.21?

and how much will my system be better with the performance-inf?

The drivers is out now for a day (if not just some hours) and it takes some time to create/upload the inf :)

I've never used the performance inf, but they say that it gives a nice performance boost. The standard inf does it for me and I'm happy with that! :(

If you want the performance inf, you will have to wait a bit, it won't take that long to be up :)

If you really want it, I think normally you can use the 84.20 inf as there won't be mucht differences between those and this driver :P

This wrong assumption should be cleared by reading the FAQ :)

Hope this is the right place to post,

I have a Sony Vaio VGN-S5VP_B.

nVidia drivers are 84.21 with the modified inf

Realtek High Definition Audio drivers 1.33

Latest Intel Network Drivers.

I have run with Everquest II, Battlefield Vietnam, ET and Half-life 2 demo. Half-Life 2 is working at 1200x800 widescreen with every setting on recommended (pretty hi quality) the start up sequence runs without issue the game plays great but you get an occasional stutter when heavy loading from disk. I tested with Half-Life because with the original drivers and 1GB memory it was not playable.

This driver with the new Realtek drivers work a lot better than the ones provided by Sony. Also noticed a masive performance improvement with the extra 1GB memory from Kingston. Havn't tried the 3DMark tests yet but they ran badly before.

Just need to find out why my disk kills the game during loading :)

Thanks very much

What RPM is your drive ?

A 7200RPM driver will make a big difference over a 5400RPM

Also an 8MB cache drive will be faster than a 2MB one.

Segate Serial ATA, 5400 rpm 8MB cache). It only seems to pause whilst pre-loading textures and is only right at the beginning of each level, it is easy to ignore.

Thats OK then, even a 7200RPM drive will have a pause, not as long though :)

Make a virtual drive in memory and install the game in there, then no more pauses :)

That is a choice and I might try it when/if I get bored. Actually I might just ignore it, it doesn't look like an issue with any of the drivers/laptop issues but a problem with stream and Half Life 2. http://www.blep.net/hl2stutter/

Thanks for the head ups. I already made a hidden post about this release an hour ago or so. We need to actually upload the driver and do 'our magic' as Pieter would say.

Hi all!

I already made this post in the 84.20, but since i installed the 84.21 here it goes...

The powermixer is broken, it thinks that is allways on ac, so it won't go to the optimized setting as i have it set when in battery. And the VMR setting for the overlay gives error, have to disable it to watch dvds.

My rig...

Toshiba m40yp3

Nvidia 6600 GO 128 MB

Would like people to confirm this? See if is just my laptop, which shouldn't be, cause i removed the 84.20 drivers and went back to the stock 71.70 and the power mixer works fine.

Thanks all

Yep, I have the same problem aswell. It doesn't detect me pulling the power, so it's always at maximum performance. Not a huge problem for me since I rarely use my machine on batteries, but certainly odd.

Right two things, hope this helps:

I took the advise of creating a virtual drive to heart, ok not litterally, because I have 2GB of memory I set certain parameters to increase my caching sizes to those of a server.

LargeSystemCache:1 // Increases the File Cache size used, usually set for servers.

DisablePagingExecutive:1

EnablePrefetch:3 // I think this is the default but a performance tool changed it :)

Win32PrioritySeperation:0x26 // Changes priorities to forground processes

I turned off the Indexing Service, as I don't use it.

There is also a flag EnableSuperfetch which people are saying improves percieved performance and it what is in Longhorn, I believe it works but is buggy in XP. When I turned it on things just got worse and not only did I get pauses but it also didn't load some files so I have turned it off.

I now get a very small blip in sound but no pauses when the disk is accessed.

For the Powerbar in Nvidia. I have an NVidia 6400 on a Vaio and had the same issue with the laptop not being recognised in battery mode, I turned off the Sony Power management for this and it is all working fine now.

Regards

Try INF v 31.54 I've added a Check for AC tweak, hopefully this will help your not detecting when going to AC or Battery.

Keep fingers crossed.

I must be stupid, 'cause I've followed the installation FAQ as far as I can tell but when I have to choose which model card I want to install drivers for my Go 6800 isn't in there, but the regular non-Go are. Any ideas?

Are you sure you replaced the original INF with the Modded INF?
