Charles-0100
Hi PedroL thanks for your response! Yeah, I did increase both gpu and memory clocks! Not just in ntune but also in riva tuner! I havent noticed any gain of performance. I'm quite worried cause I have seen people with same card as mine (8400M GS) doing 4000+ points in 3dmark 2003... I actually can reach only 2750... :) I am now using this driver for my 8400M gs overclocking get 2514 points in 3Dmarks 06 .... is there anyway to improve ? BTW should i keep on using this driver or use the new one from Nvidia ? Edited November 11, 2007 by Charles-0100
Guest Guest
The 16x.xx series are built for desktop use basically right? Are there overheating/battery drainage issues with using the 16x.xx series with laptops? Sorry if these are noobish questions

deon10
Hey guys, i have a bug and it isn't as fun as you guys get :) I have two Geforce 7900 GS on my Alienware M9700. When I try to install the driver the computer crashes and I get that famous blue screen, then my computer restarts and i keep getting it until I go to windows restore point and choose to go back to my previous restore point. I'm a total newbie when it comes to installing this drivers and all that so just give me some advice even if it seems dumb and easy. Thanks guys

Guest J
For those that care about the Windows Vista Index score:167.26 CPU 5.4 RAM 4.6 Aero/GPU 4.5 Gaming 5.2 HDD 5.2 169.01 CPU 5.5 RAM 4.9 Aero/GPU 4.5 Gaming 5.2 HDD 5.2 169.04 CPU 5.5 RAM 4.9 Aero/GPU 4.8 Gaming 5.3 HDD 5.2 Huh. I have an Asus G2S, and for the 169.01 driver I have a 5.9 on Aero Graphics, and 5.4 on Gaming Graphics. I am about to try 169.04.
Guest J
Ok, so I've successfully installed 169.04, and my gaming graphics score went up to 5.5. I'll post again later about some game test results.
EVO21
Did a few runs on 3DMark06 Default Settings Laptop Model: LG R500 CP50P Graphics Card: NVidia GeForce 8600M GS (16 Shaders, 128-bit, 500/1400/1000) Processor: Intel Core 2 Duo T7300 (2Ghz, FSB800, 4MB L2) Memory: 2x1GB DDR2-667 Operating System: Windows Vista Home Premium 32-bit Overclock Tool: RivaTuner/nTune Core Clock: 500 Mhz (Stock) Memory Clock: 1400 Mhz (Stock) Shader Clock: 1000 Mhz (Stock) Score: 2927 Marks Core Clock: 553 Mhz (+53 Mhz) Memory Clock: 1508 Mhz (+108 Mhz) Shader Clock: 1106 Mhz (+106 Mhz) Score: 3181 Marks (+254) Core Clock: 583 Mhz (+83 Mhz) Memory Clock: 1606 Mhz (+206 Mhz) Shader Clock: 1166 Mhz (+166 Mhz) Score: 3311 Marks (+384) Windows Gaming Graphics went up from 5.4 to 5.5 when overclocked. The card toped out at about 590 Mhz (crashed 3DMark06 at 594 Mhz). I dont know if this was Windows problem or the card is really limited to that clock. Can run Crysis DX10 at 1024x640 Low Settings and Need For Speed Pro Street 1024x768 Low/Medium Settings, and PES08 at Maximum 1280x800. Its all Demos. Also tested World in Conflict and runs smooth at 1280x800 Medium, only slows down in intensive scenes. I hope NVidia optimises drivers some more for Crysis because it doesnt run so good even on Low Settings and for NFS PS, because i feel this card is capable of higher settings. Drivers work fine for my laptop, does the 2D/3D transition perfectly and does not overheat. And thats it for testing the 169.04 drivers. Guest panpan
Hi, I have a ASUS GS1s laptop, just installed this driver to get more FPS with Crysis, but unfortunately it disables my HDMI output... so no more HTPC :) Have to find an older one... Thanks for this website it helps a lot. panpan
Guest panpan
Sorry about the typo, it's a G1S, 8600M GT inside. I also tried to install the 169.02 supposed to be WHQL, but refuses to install, even with the mod iNF. So now trying with the old 163.75 WHQL... trying to get my HDMI back. It's weird because the VGA subd15 outputs works fine. Anybody else with a ASUS Gamer Series having the same issue with the HDMI output ? Guest Guest
As said by Darsher earlier, I also have problems with black borders all around the picture when outputing 1080p (60Hz) via HDMI to my full hd lcd. 1080i (30Hz) fills the screen, but the tv says it's getting a 1080i 60Hz signal (?). So, anyone knows how to solve the 1080p 60Hz problem? This problem also occured with other/older drivers. My computer is an Asus C90s with 8600m gt card. I have also have problems using the by Asus included Turbo Gear overclocking software. Standard, Power save and Game works, but I get BSOD when trying Overclock mode. Anyone else? deon10
Did you clean your old driver first ....? Actually, i hadn't. Now i did it in safe mode and installed it correctly. I then turned on SLI in my 1.50.30.27 Nvidia control panel. Now i receive this when trying to play PES 6 ! i get that blue screen, and sometimes my display starts showing stuff and comes back and says the display drive had an error and has recovered ! Charles-0100
weird , first time i heard this problem ..... do you have this problem if you turn off SLI ? deon10
No ! thats the problem ! I know you could just tell me to turn off the SLI then, which is what ive done now, but what would be the point in me having two graphic cards ? Would telling you the error line they give me with the blue screen be helpful for you to understand ?
Charles-0100
what i mean was asking you to turn off SLI to find out the problem is from the driver or using SLI Edited November 16, 2007 by ®®® Removed Full Quotation of Previous Post
deon10
thats what the NO meant in my answer. When i turn off SLI i have no problem at all ! everything runs smoothly !

Guest Guest
Can someone help me with a guide to install this driver? I only get a message that says that Windows does not support this driver. To install this files you need to have Windows Vista 32-bit. Wierd. Smooshieus
Maybe someone could help us out with a simple solution here? Actually encountered a problem with these drivers on Monday. I was playing LOTR Online swtiching back adn forth between DX10 and DX9. Besides the obvious low frame rate from DX10 (gotta play with the settings), after the second switching back and forth the PowerMizer got stuck on a lower clock. Since there's no way for me to disable the powermizer in Vista like in XP I had to reboot my PC. I now installed RivaTuner again and set up the launcher to adjust the clock on the fly. I also tried to go to the INF and disable the mizer since I'm now using RivaTuner to control the clock, for some reason my GPU still gets slowed by Vista. Just some fun bugs. I have the exact same problem. After playing "The Witcher" for a random amount of time, the screen will flicker and my clock will suddenly drop from my overclocked high-performance 3D setting to its lowest 2D setting. After that, it doesn't matter what I do to try to fix the problem; only a reboot helps. Is there some simple way to reset the driver, at least until a better driver is released? Edit: Here's a solution, albeit a pretty crummy one. Just open the device manager, disable your video card (forcing your monitor to go into its stupidest low resolution and scrunching up all your windows along with it) and then re-enable it. Voila, your video driver is reset and Powermizer works normally again. Have fun resizing your windows back to normal while you consider that it was actually a lot faster and more convenient than rebooting. Guest John
Do these drivers work for XP or does anyone have the drivers for XP? I have vista as well in a dual boot but vista gives me issues with games to begin with.
EVO21
If you look at the topic title you will see these drivers are for Vista 32-bit. This driver is also available for XP but in a diferent topic. Click here: http://forums.laptopvideo2go.com/index....showtopic=15828 I sugest you wait for the new drivers (169.09), that are here: http://forums.laptopvideo2go.com/index....showtopic=16154 (The Modded Inf, required to install this on a laptop, is still in the works)
Guest tasulm
driver s ok with crysis but it sucks on age of mythology titans.
Smooshieus
Nevermind my previous solution to Powermizer getting stuck at low settings randomly during some games. Disabling and re-enabling the driver only solved it once. Now I need to reboot. Hopefully 169.09 will solve this.
Batumulia
Why don't you try Rivatuner?
Smooshieus
For what exactly? I actually use RivaTuner very intensively, but of course it's possible that I overlooked a feature. I wouldn't want to turn off Powermizer or circumvent it by forcing a certain clock speed, since I actually do need that kind of power-saving as I move around a lot. I've now installed 169.09 and that seems to have solved it. From what I read, the clocks getting stuck at very low settings may be due to a driver instability at high overclocks under stress. That makes sense, since it only seems to happen during those heavy cut-scenes in The Witcher and for the other person experiencing the problem it was between switches in DX versions in another game, which is also a short-term heavy load on the card. If upgrading to 169.09 hadn't fixed it, I'm sure clocking down a bit would have. Anyway, problem solved!
