Install GeForce 8600M GT Drivers on XP (for Asus G1S)

After hours of frustrating work attempting to install drivers, I figured out a quick fix.

Steps:

1. Download XP Driver 101.19 from laptopvideo2go.com ( http://forums.laptopvideo2go.com/index....showtopic=13407 )

2. Extract the files.

3. Go to the folder you extracted from

4. Open the file "nvam.inf" in notepad

5. a) In the file, search for the string "[NVIDIA.Mfg]"

b) Under that header add in the following line, replacing the old line:

"%NVIDIA_G84.DEV_0407.1% = nv4_A6T_G8x, PCI\VEN_10DE&DEV_0407&SUBSYS_15151043"

6. Save the file and in the same folder run "setup.exe"

Your video drivers should install properly now.

Tested on: Windows XP Professional SP2 x86

Edit: Accidentally specified the wrong non-working drivers, it's fixed now.
