Guest playmystrat
After installing 163.44, or any of the later post-Bioshock drivers my Sager 5720 w/ Geforce go 7800 GTX was suffering from the same problem that many others have mentioned; upon boot, my computer would hang for a 30+ seconds and the mouse/keyboard would stop responding, then it would wake up and load the rest of my start-up programs as normal. I found the solution: go to msconfig and disable nvcpl, and the hang totally disappears. Driver still works perfectly fine otherwise, not sure if you lose some kind of control panel functionality or something, but that hang was annoying as hell. therealleimi
Installed the driver out of curiosity because 163.69 worked perfectly. Like mentioned before no overclocking with this one and I noticed a drop in performance in Stalker...
Wello
Well at TweakForce a lot of people are testing the stock drivers to see if its any good for GOZ to modify them. On stock settings, no overclock these guys are getting huge improvements. For you, stalker, this guy gained huge FPS. "well STALKER fps picked up a lot. just as i enter Priypat with the XG163.69 i had 34fps on adv. but now with this driver i have around 75+fps in the same area.and my 3dmark06 score was a little better to 8260 stock clocks on all as well and with old tech to boot. lol" For CS:S "As far as CS:S stress goes... @1024x768 with everything maxed but bloom (I dislike going blind) considering I like to use Digital Vibrance. For this little test I bump up my fps_max to 500 just for the purpose of testing so it's not capped @ 300 when the test picks up frames in upwards of 340. 167.37 Stock -- 224.91fps 167.37 XG -- 242.72 167.37 SE -- 217.34 163.69 Stock -- 192.87 163.69XG -- 201.39 For the record, the 163's were terrible for me in not only this game but seemingly all. I also use the stock XG 163.37's as the SE did nothing positive for my machine. I know my input may be minimal, but I hope it's helpful Smile I have a good feeling because I'm superstitious and I'm pretty sure .71 (suffix) drivers were always good. LOL Off to test these and see if it's worth GoZ's time ... Edit :: 163.71 Stock -- 254.36 fps ... So err um yeah.. I'm keeping these hehe! I actually forgot to uncap the FPS from 300 to 500 for the test, so if I got 250/300 I can only imagine what other games are going to feel like. My hunch was true .71's are always good (like the late 93.71's) Smile" I'm gonna try laptop2go's version and see if there is improvement
®®®
I actually forgot to uncap the FPS Wello, benchmarks without restoring the previous environment (restore image of HD) for each run are useless as they are incorrect. How can you compare false numbers? A proper benchmark is a fine art which needs knowledge, time and patience.
Guest LittlePill
Hi I tested many ForceWare drivers (10133, 16314,16369, 16371) on my notebook but the games do not recognize the GeForce 8600mGT. World In Conflict says "no video card detected" and Quake3 runs at 5 fps max.. I use Windows 2003, and everything work fine in it. Many thanks. dickeywang
The display of some (chinese) characters in the nvidia control panel have been broken since I switched from the original Lenovo driver to the 163.44 driver. The driver always automatically detects my default non-unicode settings and chooses Chinese as the installed language (I have an English version of Windows XP but have set Chinese as the default non-unicode language). I wish there is an option that I can manually choose English as the installed language during the installation. Guest Guest
Are we going to get a new modded .ini for the WHQL driver or will this one work just fine?

Guest Guest
Do you think I could use it with my 8600M GT ?
RangerXML
ONly if it has the modded .inf since the standerd drivers only recognize desktop GPUs. I'm waiting till this site updates the inf with the whql files.
d6x
i'd say 163.71 whql = 163.71 beta (i guess thats why there was no new topic for the whql driver, the old topic was just edited) i installed the whql and used the modded inf from the beta, everything runs fine, except stranglehold but thats another problem Edited September 30, 2007 by d6x
IYDKMIGTHTKY
please update the WHQL Driver
envydyauser
I've just installed the WQHL from the NVIDIA site on my Satellite. Preliminary testing seems to show very significant improvement in video acceleration for H264 content, compared to previous drivers I tried (162.18 and 163.16). I'll get some CPU screenshots when I have more time, and post them over in the PureVideo thread, but I've already seen enough to say this ForceWare version has the best video acceleration yet. cheers envydyauser Edited October 1, 2007 by envydyauser
RangerXML
And this is why I'm waiting for the WHQL version of these drivers for my lappy.
envydyauser
And this is why I'm waiting for the WHQL version of these drivers for my lappy. Hello ? These drivers are no longer marked "BETA" in red on the NVidia site, and they are WHQL. cheers envydyauser
RangerXML
By that I mean the WHQL files here, the drivers don't work on my lappy without the modded .inf file.
envydyauser
By that I mean the WHQL files here, the drivers don't work on my lappy without the modded .inf file. Man, just upgrade : http://mapage.noos.fr/manamba/163.71.html install nvidia's WHQL driver using this modded inf : http://www.laptopvideo2go.com/infs/160seri...71/nv4_disp.inf cheers e. RangerXML
First off, there is a difference between BETA and WHQL and secondly, just sticking a modded inf from the BETA into the WHQL DOES NOT WORK!
