mobilenvidia
Just uploaded this new INF version for 163.75, 163.76 and 156.72 This INF version has some enhancements to Powermizer and I tidied up the INF a little. Also added in some HDTV resolutions, found this in 156.72 for the Qosmio G40. Added some other new wide screen resolutions they are not being added to the list. I may have added too many, and need to split them up. If you have INF v3.228 then you may want to upgrade to v3.229 as I've fixed a wee problem with Resource Managers power supply setting. This will stop the ability to Overclock the 3D Performance settings. v3.229 has this fixed. Been a very productive day, learning curve was steep but learned a lot more from what does what. Also of late I've been asked an awful lot "We have the same system" what is the best driver ? I don't normally have a driver installed long enough to get to know it intimately I generally stick with the latest drivers. So currently I use 163.75 for Vista x64 SP1 beta, Hopefully the INFs are providing you guys with all you require, I try to enable as much as possible for as many as possible. There are of course always bugs for certain setups, the distortion bug still rears it's ugly head or Dell users. The Alienware SLI problems still persist (although trying out these latest INFs would be good to see if the new tweaks work) Enjoy :)
Fr0styRyan
So the SLI issues are fixable with modded infs? Anyone care to experiment?

Only issue was 3D Overclocking not working. But to get back to v3.228 do this to the INF (text editor) ;HDTVModes_AddReg HKR,, DisableHDTVRes, %REG_DWORD%, 0 (set this to 1) ;PowerSupply settings HKR,, AllowMaxPerf, %REG_DWORD%, 2 HKR,, PerfLevelSrc, %REG_DWORD%, 0x3333 HKR,, RMEnablePowerSupplyCapacity, %REG_DWORD%, 1 HKR,, RMPowerSupplyCapacity, %REG_DWORD%, 3 (set this to 2, will lock the abillity to OC the 3D clocks) Uninstall old driver reinstall this modded one. I doubt this will fix it, there is probably another issue, but I could be wrong the workings of nV are strange

RangerXML
Yup, just confirmed, no PowerMizer and no OCing (C90S, Windows XP, 8600M GT 512MB DDR2, 163.76). Thanks guys for trying though, keep working at it. I'll post anything I find, mind you my digging though the drivers have resulted in more bluescreens then I've seen since before Windows XP SP1. Could I send you guys a copy of my 101.17 that I got from Asus download? mobilenvidia
Bugger, not all machines are born the same, and what now works on my i9400 doesn't work on a C90 Put a ';' infront of lines or just delete these 2 lines, this control the OC and how they overclock 3D performance. HKR,, RMEnablePowerSupplyCapacity, %REG_DWORD%, 1 HKR,, RMPowerSupplyCapacity, %REG_DWORD%, 3 You could play with the RMPowerSupplyCapacity setting, on an i9400 it needs to be 3 as above try either 1 or 2 as well. RangerXML
In the inf or in the reg? NVMD, found em in the inf, search for (I tried searching for your strings and it wouldn't find em): HKR,, RMEnablePowerSupplyCapacity, %REG_DWORD%, 1 HKR,, RMPowerSupplyCapacity, %REG_DWORD%, 3 *edit*nevermind again, this forum won't show the right number of spaces...Reinstalling and testing...Restarting...nTune...restarting. mobilenvidia
In the INF, HKR registry settings are best installed to take effect, HKLM can be done in the registry to take effect once the CP is opened. The spaces don't matter, I put them in to make the INFs all pretty :)
RangerXML
No luck, nothing. I tried both RivaTuner and nTune to a just and check the clock, nothing. I enabled PowerMizer and unplugged the notebook, clock stayed at 475/400.

So with 101.17 Powermizer and Ocing works ? I'll DL it now and have a look. [uPDATE] did you mean 101.19 ? can't find 101.17 for ASUS. If it is 101.17 then could you attach the INF to this tread. The INF is all I need. on the ASUS FTP the C90S only has drivers for ATI
RangerXML
Here is the inf, its 101.17(attached) You can find it at: http://support.asus.com under downloads>>notebooks>>C90>>C90S>>VGA There are all the ATI and Nvidia (four sets: 7700Go XP 9x.xx, 7700Go Vista 9x.xx, 8600M XP 101.17 and 8600M Vista 101.17) NVAM.INF
mobilenvidia
Right got the INF, all the ASUS sites were down for me :) Now what exactly works with 101.17 ? Powermizer works in regards, the clocks will lower after 30secs to a lower value and 30 after that lower again to 2D mode ? The sliders are not there in 150+ drivers, well for Vista any way. nVMonitor will show the clock speeds. PowerLvlSrc also has an effect on this, ASUSC90 used 0x2222 Overclocking works, ie the value set in Rivatuner or ntune stay ? When I set RMPowerSupplyCapacity to any value but 3 the OC sliders just go back to default. These 2 settings arn't needed to Overclock without them OCing will work on a i9400 ASUS C90 settings: [nv_SoftwareDeviceSettings_A6T] HKR,, InstalledDisplayDrivers, %REG_MULTI_SZ%, nv4_disp HKR,, VgaCompatible, %REG_DWORD%, 0 HKR,, VPEENABLE, %REG_DWORD%, 0 HKR,, MapOSD3toNV, %REG_DWORD%, 3 HKR,, RMMaintainDevs, %REG_DWORD%, 1 HKR,, RMMaintainTVStandard, %REG_DWORD%, 1 HKR,, DevSwitchSuppressMask, %REG_DWORD%, 0x05 HKR,, ModesetBlankDelay, %REG_DWORD%, 1 HKR,, UseBestResolution, %REG_DWORD%, 1 HKR,, OverlayMode3, %REG_DWORD%, 9 HKR,, NvCplConfiguration, %REG_DWORD%, 0x40000000 HKR,, RMTvoPedestalMS, %REG_DWORD%, 0 HKR,, RMTvoWhitepointOverride, %REG_DWORD%, 0xFF HKR,, OverrideEdidFlags0, %REG_BINARY%, 0D,AF,08,14,00,0E,32,0F,04,00,00,00,36,02,C6,1B HKR,, OverrideEdidFlags1, %REG_BINARY%, 0D,AF,09,14,00,0E,32,0F,04,00,00,00,36,02,C6,1B HKR,, OverrideEdidFlags2, %REG_BINARY%, 0D,AF,12,14,00,0E,32,0F,04,00,00,00,36,02,C6,1B HKR,, PowerMizerDefault, %REG_DWORD%, 2 HKLM,"Software\NVIDIA Corporation\Global\NVTweak",MXMThermalControl,%REG_DWORD%,1 Try adding the above one at a time to see if anything affects it. You have lots of work to do :)
RangerXML
The OC will stick with 101.17, RivaTuner will run its test and nTune OC will stick. With any other drivers you click the test button and it just goes grayed and the clocks reset. If you unplug the notebook and monitor the clocks you'll see them drop, I believe 217/200 or something like that any other drivers it just keeps the standard clock speeds. Also there is an optional piece of software thats part of Turbo Gear (the CPU OCing software, which now works like a charm for me) called VGA enhancer. The VGA enhancer OCs the video card to 500/450 by default, also causes troubles if installed for other OCing tools since it resets the clock speeds always back to 500/450 (so for anyone else uninstall this if you intent to OC to a higher clock speed). Also, you want me to add those in one at a time in that order? Should I run Driver Cleaner Pro, Driver Sweeper and Reg Cleaner between each uninstall? Should I change back the prior two thing you asked me to change in the inf? HKR,, RMEnablePowerSupplyCapacity, %REG_DWORD%, 1 HKR,, RMPowerSupplyCapacity, %REG_DWORD%,
mobilenvidia
No need to run any driver cleaners between other installs. Uninstalls are needed if you remove a settings, if only changing a value no need to uninstall just reinstall with new value (will save oodles of time) have you tried the 101.17 INF with a newer driver, this will save even more time as it will tell us wether it's a specific driver fix ot an INF setting. RangerXML
So just rename the 101.17 inf to nv4_disp.inf from NVAM.INF? I'll try it. Anything I should be aware of when doing this? Would I loose the PureVideo support that was added to 163.xx? Its running now. Restarting. Ok, nothing. PowerMizer worked once after reinstall. I then tried to OC, nothing. Went back to the PowerMizer, all of a sudden does not work again, classic! I'll take the original 163.xx inf and try thos changes you suggested. I still have about 2 hours to kill till I can work on my desktop again. OK, I went into the inf and I found: [nv_SoftwareDeviceSettings] should I add _A6T to that and then change things how they are listed below with yours? Cause I find references to nv_SoftwareDeviceSettings, but nothing to _A6T? Or do I create a whole new set? mobilenvidia
Try adding the AT6 settings that aren't already there
RangerXML
I tried all the _A6T settings, nothing made OC stick. No noticeable side effects from messing with the .inf file, weird? I think maybe the _A6T references might not have functioned because of _A6T tags that I found throughout the original .inf? For example: [NVIDIA.Mfg] %NVIDIA_C67.DEV_0533.2% = nv4_C51, PCI\VEN_10DE&DEV_0533&SUBSYS_16921043 %NVIDIA_G84.DEV_0407.1% = nv4_A6T_G8x,PCI\VEN_10DE&DEV_0407&SUBSYS_16181043 %NVIDIA_G86.DEV_0425.1% = nv4_A6T_G8x,PCI\VEN_10DE&DEV_0425&SUBSYS_16171043 %NVIDIA_G86.DEV_0425.2% = nv4_A6T_G8x,PCI\VEN_10DE&DEV_0425&SUBSYS_826C1043 %NVIDIA_G86.DEV_0428.1% = nv4_A6T_G8x,PCI\VEN_10DE&DEV_0428&SUBSYS_16161043 %NVIDIA_G86.DEV_0428.2% = nv4_A6T_G8x,PCI\VEN_10DE&DEV_0428&SUBSYS_82651043 I found no _A6T in any of the other .inf on this site? The key might not lie in the .inf, but might be in one of the files with the driver. In any case this is where I say good night for now, I'll pick up tomorrow and I'll call Asus on Monday and bug the crap outta them for new official drivers. I did find out the PowerMizers been working the whole time and doesn't require any tweaks to the inf, via the NVMonitor.

Xenon
Overclocking is not possible now after installing with the new inf. I did try the settings in this thread, not working so far, BUT, PowerMizer is working really fine, Memory clockrate down from 900Mhz to 200Mhz, and Core clock from 450Mhz, to...... omg, 1mhz, yes 1mhz, both the RivaTuner and NvMonitor displayed it like this, after starting some 3d intensive apps the 3Dclock goes right back up. My system specs in my profile. Thank you for your hardwork. Using 163.75 for Windows Vista 32bit. Edited October 21, 2007 by Xenon
