darkck
interesting driver...It just looks like 178.13......
Twisteds7
Looks like it isn't compatible with 8600m GT (just from the list, I didn't install it). Why did this driver replace the new Nvidia 178.13 on the frontpage? Aren't these 'specialized' drivers for Alienware?
mobilenvidia
interesting driver...It just looks like 178.13...... No these are 179 series (I though samething at first) Looks like it isn't compatible with 8600m GT (just from the list, I didn't install it). Why did this driver replace the new Nvidia 178.13 on the frontpage? Aren't these 'specialized' drivers for Alienware? It didn't replace 178.13 it is a different driver in a different series. 178.13 is a desktop driver and 179.13 is a mobile driver. Hope this explains it :)
badboyromio
An Alienware driver? this should kick arse. can anyone run benchmarks in games and report back?
Twisteds7
Oh I gotcha. Will it be updated to include 8600m gt compatibility? I'd like to run some tests with it over the 178.13 desktop version.

I?m waiting for Vista x64 version to test with 178.13.

mobilenvidia
no, I've got MSI laptop (GX 600 extreme :s) that's why I don't know if it will work :s (sorry for my bad english) Your MSI (not being an Alienware) will not work with original INF. You will also need to download the modded INF and replace original one then install.

Guest Gman
I have an alienware m15x with a 8800M GTX. The 8800M GTX isn't on the list of supported cards. Also, I checked the alienware website and the latest driver is 167.55. Can I install this one? Do I need to use the original INF since I have an Alienware laptop? If so, will it still have the down clocking when not using 3D applicaions feature?

c0ding
In AC, PowerMizer don't go to standard 2D, keeps going to low power 3D... In battery, don't know... in other releases, like 175.97 (from ASUS), powermizer stops working, after a upgrade from MS, to Vista SP1 (Vista SP1 update KB955302)... :) By the way, it's a 9500M GS 512MB DDR2, from asus. Guest PresenceOfMind
Hello there, I'm very happy with 178.13 driver running on my Dell M1730(laptop). But 178.13 is a desktop driver and this new one is mobile. Should I replace my driver? What should I expect from this new driver? I would like to suggest a brief list of changes when releasing a new driver. if possible. Thank you
Guest swOOsh
3DMark06 score ---> 5231 (without OC) 1024x768 with my 8600M GT (DDR3) :)
Daws
In AC, PowerMizer don't go to standard 2D, keeps going to low power 3D...In battery, don't know... in other releases, like 175.97 (from ASUS), powermizer stops working, after a upgrade from MS, to Vista SP1 (Vista SP1 update KB955302)... :) By the way, it's a 9500M GS 512MB DDR2, from asus. Indeed I got the same issue since 177.xx driver. CPU and memory clock stay at low 3d performance..no more 2D..so more heat and power consumption Edited September 30, 2008 by Daws
legionaire
works fine on my 8600mgt, similar to 178.
Guest Dwend
I have a Aleinware M15X with the 8800GTX, I did not use the modified .Inf file, but installed the driver as if I did via device manager, when it asked for what card I had I chose the 9800GT since it is the same. I have improvements over the 178.13 driver.
zipper
CPU and memory clock stay at low 3d performance..no more 2D..so more heat and power consumption Confirmed. But performance is tops, slightly faster than 178.
