ok so you are saying using the nvvsvc.exe and nvsvc.dll from 179.28 is making sleep and hibernation work?

Yes it works. I'm gonna use it for some time, and let you know about some side effects, if there will be any, which I doubt.

And Croatia is in final, at home!!!!!!

Hey mate, could you do me a favour and install the 185.20 from this site?

No need for the modded inf since it will install (your card is suppported in 185.20 without any mods)

Once installed can you check that sleep and hibernation is working?

If not working can you use the nvvsvc.exe and nvsvc.dll form 179.28 and see if that works?

:)

I cant test it myself since I dont have sleep or hibernation issues with the normal .dll.

I am not 100% in putting missed .dll since it breaks other things in the drivers.

No problem man, good idea  , but I'd do it first time in the morning, if you don't mind, gotta go to sleep so that I can study for my exams :) . I'll make the post in mornin after I finish the sleep tests.

Once I know the results I can that package them in the installer and upload.

If you'd like to do it then be go ahead.

I'm doing this for you guys after all.

I dont have sleep or hibernation issues so I am in no rush :)

my card is not supported since it's an 8800M ... i'm gonna try using the modded inf, i have saved the two files: that .exe and that .dll (on vista x64). I'm sweeping the 179.44 installed drivers and i'm gonna install the new 185.20 with modded inf.

Nice one :)

You just helped alot of people.

To confirm:

you used 185.20 with modded inf and default .dll

then you used 185.20 with modded inf and nvvsvc.exe and nvsvc64.dll from 179.28 and everything works?????????

Don't know what happened, but after clean installation of 185.20 I've got 2 nvvsvc.exe running (in task manager), and the sleep works... I don't think thats by default, something went wrong, and I hope to find out what.

Im having the same problem on my Vaio FZ w8400 GT since i put the 181.20 w (INF MOD) on my Vista, but after that i enjoy the 167.43 that gave me one of the best experience on game and blue ray movies, until a found GTA IV the game for windows, time to update my driver to 180xx series, the game now run, but a lost my sleep mode :)

Im triyin to find those file nwsvc or nvsvc but im not having success i want my sleep mode back

Ok, the tests with the latest Dox 185.20 tell me this.

Only solution, for now, for sleeping problem is still killing the powermizer or disabling the Nvidia driver service (nvsvc). All other things won't work.

So I found the fix for people with vista and a nvidia card having Vista randomly changing desktop resolutions, and not being able to TV out using Svideo or Composite video. Taken from my post at the workaround for the sleep issue thread:

I also found a fix for the people who have problems where if they run a game at a lower res than their desktop resolution, and after playing game X with the lower res, Windows, at some random time, will switch the desktop to game X's res... (Hopefully I get credit for this, unless someone else already posted a fix. lol) Its a service/task called TMM and it must be disabled. I've done this in Vista, it might work in XP, but not sure if TMM is there or not. This also fixes S-Video/Composite TV out problems where you would set it to output at this setting, and it would flash the image for 1/2 a second and then go black.

To fix these problems, go to control panel, administrative tools, and open the task scheduler. On the left pane, expand the Task Scheduler Library -> Microsoft -> Windows and open the MobilePC item. Click TMM in the middle pane. Click End in the right pane, and click Disable.

So, there you have it... no more changing resolutions after quitting games, or random times.. and having to go change it back in nvidia control panel all the time!! :)
