mobilenvidia
http://supportapj.dell.com/support/downloa...p;fileid=309681Dell new drivers 6.10.6187 Cheers for that am grabbing these now. What may need to happen is in future release you may need to add a certain 'Pin' section to the INI. This section in all INI but is device/model specific. This tells the driver what is attached to the machine, ie Speakers, Speaker/HP combined, lineout, linein, SPDIF, HDMI, MICs etc etc I have left this section blank hoping the driver would detect what was where. What you will need to do is to find the original driver's INI file (WRTxxxxx.ini) You will need to do a PCI_ID AND SUBSYS search for the exact INI. (the one below is for Dell i9400 and possibly others) In this INI will be a section like this: [HKR\Settings\pin][HKR\Settings\Pin\08] CfgDflt = dword: 0x40C003FA [HKR\Settings\Pin\09] CfgDflt = dword: 0x01441340 [HKR\Settings\Pin\10] CfgDflt = dword: 0x04A11020 Bias = hex: FF,04,02 AltCfg = hex: 20,10,81,04 [HKR\Settings\Pin\11] CfgDflt = dword: 0x90170310 [HKR\Settings\Pin\12] CfgDflt = dword: 0x40F003FC [HKR\Settings\Pin\0D] CfgDflt = dword: 0x0421121F Action = hex: 81,0E [HKR\Settings\Pin\0E] CfgDflt = dword: 0x90170310 [HKR\Settings\Pin\0F] CfgDflt = dword: 0x408003FB Use a Text editor (like WOrdpad etc) to open both INI's (original OEM INI and my Modded one) Copy and Paste the ORIGINAL section to the Modded INI between [HKR\Settings\GPIO] and [HKR\Settings\Connselector] or below [HKR\Settings\pin] Save the newly modded INI. Unistall the current driver USING control panels Uninstall (very important) Now just run setup and hopefully the Audio/jacks will function as they should. Please report back here if it does or doesn't

gtnrkt
With this drivers v6.10.6187 modded, audio out system are working as it should :) Only external mic doesn't work (internal stereo mics are working (with andreas functions)) And the audio sounds different, audio going only to the right channel also goes a little to the left (might be because of dolby)

Good to hear these work (even though not 100%), was feeling lonely :)

mobilenvidia
It's no use changing the INI to the above for your machines, it will work on one machine again and not on others What will need to happen folk will need to make their own INI based on the one I've made. Then insert the settings as NORWAY has done above. So grab the original INI from your latest official driver. Grab the PIN settings AND the Filter sections (can be quite long) Insert/replace these 2 sections Insert the Filters section after [HKR\Settings\Connselector] For fully working Audio driver, you will need to rename any section heading that is not \speaker\ to \speaker\ ie \Speaker1\ and \SpeakerHp\ This will then allow things like the EQ and SRS to work. Now testing an INI with no Filter section this should make modding in your requires bits more easily.
mobilenvidia
Done give the latest driver ago. /Filters/ sections has been removed, driver still installs and works for me. The Filters section does mean I loose windows functions But I can sort this later. It will be interesting to see if you guys see any difference with this version. mobilenvidia
Just trying some things out. Attached is an INI with no PINs and only Speaker filter header with nothing in it. I need to know if this works with those who have not been able to get sound. All I want at this stage is sound, not too worried if the Mics or SPDIF doesn't work. These IDT driver are very fiddly even empty filter headers will stop a driver service from running. What will need to happen in the future is copy the 2 sections to the INI to make the drivers work. But first would really appreciate to see if this INI works may have reduced some features but it's a test for future INI's WRT.zip
Nofearangel
Dell XPS M1730 not fully functional. I did install it over the previous drivers, will try uninstall and install on clean. WHen clicking on test speakers the sound comes through both speakers not left then right. altho on windows playback devices the test works perfectly. on the advanced options page some of the features are cut off cannot make the box bigger to display other functions. The speaker on the task bar displays an x next to it, so unable to adjust the volume. equaliser doesn't have any effect. Not sure if the quality is better could be worse. will post back an update. Update: Removed all drivers and installed new IDT drivers. SOund worked but no control panel. I wouldn't recommend these for XPS M1730. Attached is my Latest INI, there are a mountain of features now enabled in Windows. BUT you will need to add your Original PIN section for Windows features to work. Also adding your original filters may bring more rewards but can cause more issues depending on what the filters are. (best ones are speaker filters speaker1, Speaker2 and HpOut may not work) Avoid MicIn filters these seem not to work well. WRT.zip

Teraphy
What is the error number? I was having issues with 6187 when I used the pin values. I removed them from the registry, disabled then re-enabled the sound and it is working fine after a Code 10. Still looking into why this might be an issue... Guest Gta007
If the installation work but there is no sound outpout: => Copy and paste ALL line begining by [HKR\........] From your original WRT.INF to the modded WRT.INF If you only copy and paste the pin section like you said, you don't take the right audio codec for your hardware :) That's working fine for me now :)

I have copied every section with HKR tried without filters and so on just driver can't be loaded with error code 10 i give up I've had the same problem with the M1530. The original modded drivers work but without any special features or HDMI port. I tried replacing all the different HKR sections in WRT.ini from the Sigmatel driver from dell.com. There are several ini's included in the Dell package but WRT_M8-3.ini contained the right hardware code for the M1530 (HDAUDIO\FUNC_01&VEN_8384&DEV_7616&SUBSYS_1028022E=this) I tried replacing the filters, gpio, pins, codec name, and the default settings. I keep getting an error 10. CrendKing
Here is what I did to get it worked in a Dell Vostro 1500 with SigmaTel 9205. I download the modded driver, copied pin information to the inf. The [HKR\Settings] section and [HKR\Settings\GPIO] section are different from my original inf, and I used the one in the mod, because I considered they are related to software. In my first try, I left every filter section untouched, and get error code 10 after installation. Second try, grabbed the v1.022 inf from here, and left every filter section commented, and the driver worked after installation. Note that there is no Speaker filter in my original inf, only SpeakerHp, but it still produces sound, and the control panel works fine. If I add ANY of the filters from the original inf to the mod inf, error code 10. As mobilenvidia said here, even empty header is not allowed. Below are all the filters from my original inf. Michael's mod works in my case, even with all filters enabled. I don't know what I could gain if one can get the mod with filter sections presented in practice. And I'm also wondered what is reason of the filter sections. One thing imperfect is, the Vista Volume Mixer always declares "No audio device is installed", and the volume level is always 0. Seems I have to hide the system tray icon. My point is: if you get error code 10, try to disable all filter sections first, and hear if there is sound. Thanks to mobilenvidia for this great work! mobilenvidia
Very frustrating, but very worthwhile to get some decent sounds from my lappy. The i9400 is relatively easy to mod for it to work. Seems to work with and without PINS and filters although with differing results. Is anybody getting these to work ? or am I the only one :) Need more feedback from folk with working drivers.
