No discussion in here pls, just reply like this:

TOSHIBA / DELL / GERICOM / SONY etc.

Satellite 5205S703 / Inspiron 8500 / WEbblaster 10000 / GRX835iexc etc.

BIOS version, if important

GF4 460Go / GF4 4200 Go / GF4 420Go /GF FX Go5200

UXGA1600x1200 / bla

v52.16/11.64 or v47.12/22.22 etc

notes: still have a backlight problem or BlackBar or a short description of a issue you notice

Thanks.

(Alternatively you could include your driver and inf version, that you currently use without problems, in your signature. That would be of great help for us and other users, who use the same GPU/Laptop as you.)

DELL Inspiron 8500

GF4 4200 Go

WXGA 1280x800

v52.16/11.64 - Worked perfect last time I used them

v56.64/not sure (updated a week or 2 ago) - Works good, when screen is closed (set to do nothing) it keeps an image of the screen with a bit of a weird artifact, and when you move the mouse the screen comes alive again (even though the computer still thinks it's closed (pressing in the button that the screen presses when it's closed)). Haven't tested Standby, it's turned off. Will update post when I get a chance to test it.

Dell

Inspiron 8200 BIOS A11

GF2 Go

SXGA+ 1400x1050 IBM

54.01 w/ Pieter modified .inf

No problems. CPU/GPU temp has decreased + games run slightly faster and smoother. Image quality is excellent. Have tried most 4x.xx-53.xx series drivers. I'm a performance nut and so far these drivers give best performance.

All drivers and Infs have worked. The first one i installed(i think it was 52.16)

did not let me standby but the drivers since have fixed that and everything is

working great. Well only problem is with TV-out, it only displays black and

white, go post an answer to my problem on the Tv-out board if you know

what is up with that.

DELL

Inspiron 8500

BIOS version A05

GF4 4200 Go

WUXGA

current drivers 56.72 (associated mod .inf from pieters mod .inf)

Still minor problems with this driver. some graphics glitches and hangups (particularly in ut2k4). work with ut2k4 much better then the 56.82 drivers. the 56.82 drivers give me beutifull graphics, but have some serious mouse issues/graphic hangups.

I also have the black and white TV out issue, and am looking for a solution.

Also, if anyone knows the best possible drivers to use with this system, please message me (53.03 drivers with teraphys mod .inf worked better then anything ive ever put on a laptop. unfortunatly, those early FW drivers have serious issues with new games)

thanks

dvd+rw philips sdv6004 v1.03

15.4" uxga

dell 3200 projector on 150" screen

19" ctx external monitor

53.03 good, glitches and artifacts when lid switch is activated and lcd deos not turn off when switched to external monitor. Good game paly though

56.63 better, faster game play and mouse speed. same glitches

56.72 up to 6x.xx choppy performance frame rates

6x.xx best, everything works except lid switch does not automatically switch the video to the external monitor like the dell driver. However no funky backlight problems or stand by issues. There are a few render rpoblmes with far cry with this driver. UT2k4 and Chaser play good and fast. Still not qualified to take the permanent place of my ancient dell oem driver. I jsut install a particular driver before game play and uninstall afterward so I can enjoy the other features of my old driver.

I am getting very good results with the 61.12 drivers using the Dell OEM .inf file: NVDM.inf (standby fixed with these drivers)

HP Pavilion zd7140US notebook

3.0ghz Pentium Hyper Threaded

1gb DDR memory

100gb HD

nVidia 5200Fx 64mb 8x agp

17" widescreen 1440x900 resolution

Working Drivers:

54.01 Good (original driver)

56.63 Decent

56.77 Better

60.72 Good

60.60 Bad

61.11 Decent

61.12 Decent

61.21 Decent

61.45 Good

61.76 *official* The Best!: The performance and stability of these drivers are the best yet, and the quality is top notch too. I highly recommend these drivers to fellow HP laptop owners with an NVidia FX card.

62.01 Great

*I run 'most' games in 1280x800 resolution 32bit color.

*Important Note for HP Laptop Owners* If you have excessive heat or performance issues while playing games, I highly recommend the following:

1.) Use either 54.01 or 61.76 drivers, the various beta drivers in 5x.xx and 6x.xx seem to run hot. 61.76 are the best drivers, so I recommend those.

2.) Change your Windows swap file to read (this actually works):

Custom Size--

----Initial Size: 2096

----Maximum Size 4096

3.) Look for a laptop tray that allows you to lift or tilt your laptop upwards from the desk surface, raising your laptop off the desk by an inche or more. This can actually reduce heat significantly.
