Version 30 of my INFs are out

Version 30's of my INFs are out, there are many changes too many to list on the website.

Here is a list of what is going on inside the INF:

1) Desktop support has been added.

2) Added support for:

NVIDIA_NV41.DEV_00C8.1  = "NV41M"

NVIDIA_NV41.DEV_00CC.1  = "NV41GLM"

NVIDIA_NV43.DEV_0140.1  = "NVIDIA NV43"

NVIDIA_NV44.DEV_0160.1  = "NVIDIA MEP44"

The latest not even released yet Mobile GPUs

3) Added these settings:

HKR,, OverlayMode2,                  %REG_DWORD%,    0xF00050

HKR,, OverlayMode3,                  %REG_DWORD%,    0x10400001

HKR,, OverlayMode4,                  %REG_DWORD%,    0x3

These work for both Mobile and Desktop GPU's, for what they do look at tweak page on the website.

4) Added

HKR,, PowerSaverHsyncOn,            %REG_DWORD%,    1
only for Mobile GPU's this will turn off V-sync and H-sync when lid closed/standby (consumes less power, but can take longer to resume).

If you want this back the way it was set this to zero (edit the INF) then reinstall.

5) I only support this

HKR,, MapOSD3ToNV,                  %REG_DWORD%,    3
setting now, this works on most laptops, if your laptop doesn't resume properly, set this to 2 (edit INF) and reinstall.

6) Added this

HKR,, UseHWSelectedDevice,          %REG_DWORD%,    1
this is a laptop specific setting, that tells the resource manger which device to resume from after standby, if you suspect problems set this to zero and reinstall (edit INF).

I have removed from the INF the 2 options for each GPU, normal and standby fix.

The standby fix option path has been choosen, as most laptops need

HKR,, MapOSD3ToNV,                  %REG_DWORD%,    3
.

I also removed support for Tablet PC's as they are supported with the OEM INFs that come with certain drivers.

The main reason I have done this, is that Setup.exe should now work again (it wouldn't work with more than one option per GPU)

I will make a place where people can have a play with INF modding them selves so they can add/remove settings for them selves.

If you experience any problems with these new INFs place feedback here.

Enjoy,

Pieter.

I just installed the 61.40 with the 30.09 INF and it seems to run fine so far...

But I am having TV out issues. I can't lower the TV out resolution or change the region, (I think the region settings might have to do with your INF).

I'm getting black and white out.

I will test some benchmarks and a few other things.

Edit: driver version was wrong number.

Something to work on. these INFs are started from scratch.

Found the culprit, this caught me out by surprise.

nVidia has changed the way TV-out works with the 60's

I fixed the TV out mode selection, you can now choose again from NTSC/PAL.

It's not as good as when this was last working as it should with the 50's, but it's as good as it gets. (you used to be able to select output by country, now you have to know which PAL your Country has)

So INF 30.10 is out, with this fix, if your never going to use TV then don't worry updating.

I just install the 61.40 with the 30.10 inf on my Alienware

add I run again in an old problem, similar (I guess) to the TV-out:

in clone mode I can't change the resolution of the second monitor (analog Monitor)

the "change resolution" item don't appear in the menu.

The 56.67 is the only driver which still let me do this.

Tnank to U again anyway,

Maa

uh im scared... im going back to the 53.82 with larry's inf and my clock settings...

pieter do you still have the 9.5 or 9.6 inf ? i have a 9.6 if you've trashed the old already. that was when you decided to take out alot of unknown tweaks... now 30 you do it again... and i remember clearly that i had problems with 9.7... and im working now so not much time to test but ill test the 30's on the old drivers to compare to mine

Major undocked problems are back with this inf! Bsod with "nv4_disp display driver got stuck in an infinite loop".

Why is this only undocked? If it were a general problem, I would/could agree. This ugly beast only shows its head when coming back from standby..;

I don't have a solution, but when docked, the extenal monitor signals are passed to (through) the docking station, which may be where you're running into a problem.

I'd drop back to something that works for now, while Pieter works his magic to try to solve it.

I didn't really remove many settings, the only section that got the chop was the Hot keys.

Too cumbersome to get to work on all machines.

Maa, in clone mode the 2nd display will be the same as the primary display.

You need Dualview where you can change both screen sizes indepently.

Ovan, remove or set

HKR,, MapOSD3ToNV,                  %REG_DWORD%,    3
to 2, this should fix the Standby problem.

Make sure you remove old driver (uninstall) as older settings can stay behind.

Did 61.40 v20.60 have these problems ??

My laptop is permanently hooked up to my docking station and is working just dandy.

I am having some Hibernate issues after the laptop being in Standby mode.

But this can be fixed with the removal of

HKR,, MapOSD3ToNV,                  %REG_DWORD%,    3
as above.

The problem is nVidia left to much room for OEM to make their little tweaks, so what works for one doesn't work for another.

Pieter, it was the same problem with 20.60 :) I'm now test driving the latest 57.64, because the 60's are not that reliable here. Maybe the 61.12 was the best of them, but still. I do agree that in docked mode it runs very smoothly, but when the sun shines I like to sit outdoors to work :)

Tnx for the support!

Pieter, 57.64 has the same problems with the 20.33 inf... it must be something in the inf I guess. However, I've disabled the changes you mention at the top of this thread and it doesn't help.

Within 2 minutes after resuming from standby (by undocking), the notebook locks up, and a bsod with "infinite loop in display driver" is generated.

I've reverted the changes in your 30.12 inf inf to solve my problems. With 57.64 they seem to be solved, so maybe I should try these on the 60-drivers again...

Note: in my previous message I incorrectly stated that 57.64 had the same problems with 20.33, but it was 30.x inf I had in mind.

I've changed these lines to make them work on Dell D800 GeForce4 4200 go:

[nv_SoftwareDeviceSettings]

;HKR,, OverlayMode2, %REG_DWORD%, 0xF00050

;HKR,, OverlayMode3, %REG_DWORD%, 0x10400001

;HKR,, OverlayMode4, %REG_DWORD%, 0x3

[Mobile_Tweaks]

HKR,, SoftEDIDs, %REG_DWORD%, 1

HKR,, PowerSaverHsyncOn, %REG_DWORD%, 0

HKR,, MapOSD3ToNV, %REG_DWORD%, 3

HKR,, UseHWSelectedDevice, %REG_DWORD%, 0

I'll stick for a while with this driver. It runs good.

There is one problem that I've seen with all the latest inf's: when I undock the notebook, the display is always reset to 640x480, and I hear the Windows hardware release sound several times. I suspect it is releasing the default monitor amongst other things, and therefore it reverts to a safe setting.

Can I disable this somewhere, or put my lcd resolution somewhere so that it remembers this? With older drivers/inf I did not see this problem.

Thanks everyone!

oVan

Sorry to insist

I'm talking "clone" mode

because when I perform live

I use the full screen (1600x1200b usually) to work

then I frame part of this screen

to output to a video projector.

"Dual Screen" mode do not overlap the outputs.

I just tried again with 61.45 and 30.12 inf

it work when I set the resolution to 1600x1200 in clone mode

my external monitor is switch to his maximum 1280x1024 here

and I can lock the panning where I want

but I can't change the resolution of this external monitor (eg. 1024x768).

it was possible with the 56.67

under nview

there is a change resolution item in the menu associated with the external monitor

I couldn't find it in any future version on my laptop.

but is this a Nvidia bug or mod consequence.

I can only give feedback.

Thanks again

Go On

Maa

Maa, have a play with these settings, add them to the modded INF.

You'll need to edit the nv4_disp.inf and look for a section called [Mobile_Tweaks] and put them in there.

HKR,, RMMaintainDevs,                %REG_DWORD%,    1

HKR,, RMMaintainTVStandard,          %REG_DWORD%,    1

HKR,, DevSwitchSuppressMask,        %REG_DWORD%,    5

HKR,, PanScanSelection,              %REG_DWORD%,    1

HKR,, UseBestResolution,            %REG_DWORD%,    1

HKR,, NV36ZORAN.connector,          %REG_DWORD%,    2

HKR,, DualviewMobile,                %REG_DWORD%,    1

These come from 56.67, I'm assuming you have an Alienware with a GF5700go.

If not give me a yell with what you have.

Try and add each line one at a time, and test your problem.

If one line fixes it, I can add it to my INF for others to also enjoy it.

Pieter.

There is a small unimportant typo in v30.15 INF for driver v61.80 and also in v30.14 for all other drivers

HKU,.DEFAULT\Software\"NVIDIA Corporation"\Global\NVTweak,QTwkEnableModeChangeWarning

Cheers Dontknow,

Luckily it doesn't affect anything, I'll remove both those lines for future INFs.

Infact I have a FXGo5600 but I don't think this will be of any influence.

I tried all the lines at the same time and it didn't change.

I didn't got time yet to try line by line.

Thanks

Maa
