Clone mode on startup with newer drivers...

I am not going to type my whole problem out again, but basically with any of the later drivers I have tried, when I turn on clone mode and restart my PC clone mode gets deactivated, when I do the same with dual view for example, it works just fine, on older drivers it used to work just fine with clone mode, which leads me to beleive that the newer drivers had that feature removed or something....

I originally PMed ®®® about this, and this is what we said.

Since you know a little bit about batch files, and about things like this:

Do you know of some kind of way to set it to turn clone mode on at startup? (with 66.xx and 67.xx drivers)

With these newer drivers I can set dual view and when I restart my laptop dualview will still be enabled, but If I turn on clone mode, it disables itself when I reboot my laptop, I think this is some stupid driver change as I used to not do this with older drivers, I could enabled clone mode and it would be on when I restarted my laptop.

Is their some registry or batch file thing I could make that could activate clone mode on startup with tv out?

There is a clone mode toggling feature that i am sure you are already aware of, it is in the registry. (if you set it)

Anyway it would be nice to look into this for me....

If there's a commandline similar style like this

HKLM,"Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run", NvStartMode,,"rundll32.exe NvCpl.dll,dtcfg setscaling 1 DA 3"

or this

rundll32.exe NvCpl.dll,dtcfg setscaling 1 DA <mode #>

then it would be no problem. But i don't know the value.

Maye asking in the forum where Terpahy, Pieter or Larry can read it is better.

Anyway I want thoughts from you guys on this, I can provide registry info if needed, also, the drivers have a hotkey for clone mode in the desktop manager that stores itself in the registry...

I would really like some help with this as it is starting to annoy me again....

Edit: FIXED scroll down.

rundll32.exe NvCpl.dll,dtcfg setview 2 clone

That command lets the driver assign primary/secondary -- if you wish to assign it :

rundll32.exe NvCpl.dll,dtcfg setview 2 clone DA AA

DFP is primary and Analog is secondary, switch DA - AA if you wish Analog to be primary etc...

Alternatively, place "dualview" in for "clone" for the obvious...

so if I switch AA to TA it would be TV out?

Like this?

rundll32.exe NvCpl.dll,dtcfg setview 2 clone DA TA

Would be digital as primary and TV as the clone?

Will try that....

Neither of those work for me, I can't get it to set it to clone mode or dual view on startup that way.

I will have to try something else....

Does anybody know of a way to have the computer press a certain key combination after a couple of seconds after startup?

Control+Y specifically.

Update:

A while back when I installed the 67.65 driver with my INF posted here:

http://forums.laptopvideo2go.com/index....indpost&p=12543

When I turned clone mode on, I believe it remembered it when I restarted my laptop.

So this brings up the question, is it the INF?

I will have to do some testing on this when I have time, and I will try to compare INFs and see what is different.

I know nothing I changed fixed it.

Mobilenvidia, do you know of anything you might have changed in your INFs that might have anything to do with this?

The Dell INF also remembers color settngs better I think, when I update to it and restart, the first time it boots up with that INF installed, it has clone mode on and the same digital vibrance settings.

If I figure out what is different, you should add it to your INF.

If anybody out there actually cares, I have figured out that it is one or more of these tweaks that you have to add to Pieter's INF to get this to work right, as to which one it is, I am not sure, and am too lazy and don't have time to test each one right now.

These are the tweaks:

HKR,, EnumerateTVAsACPIDevice,     %REG_DWORD%,    1
HKR,, DFPAsDefaultMonitor,         %REG_DWORD%,    1
HKR,, DualViewMobile,              %REG_DWORD%,    2
HKR,, RMMaintainDevs,              %REG_DWORD%,    1
HKR,, NV11MLFNT,                   %REG_DWORD%,    2
HKR,, PanScanSelection,            %REG_DWORD%,    0
HKR,, DevSwitchSuppressMask,       %REG_DWORD%,    1
HKR,, RMMaintainTVStandard,        %REG_DWORD%,    1
HKR,, ModesetBlankDelay,           %REG_DWORD%,    1
HKR,, SBIOSHandlesHotkeyInhibit,   %REG_DWORD%,    1
HKR,, LidBehavior,                 %REG_DWORD%,    5
HKR,, HotKeyUseOSResolution,       %REG_DWORD%,    0
HKR,, ResetPolicy,                 %REG_DWORD%,    1
HKR,, nvEDIDPruning,               %REG_DWORD%,    1
HKR,, RMOnDemandVBlank,            %REG_DWORD%,    1

If anybody wishes to test these or whatever go right ahead, they are mostly Dell tweaks.

They should go under the [nv_SoftwareDeviceSettings] section of the INF.

Some of them I am pretty sure about them not being the right tweak, like some of those are for enabling the second monitor as primary, which is not originally in the Dell INFs, but it ended up in my driver and this list anyway....
