World of Warcraft with vprMatrix

I'm trying to play World of Warcraft but VPRmatrix apparently doesn't feel it's necessary to provide their customers with directx 9c compliant drivers, so when I log into the game the graphics are jacked.

I tried installed a number of the laptop drivers on the drivers page but after I installed them windows would go into 8-bit color mode, so something isn't compatible.

If anybody could help me find directx 9c compliant drivers for a geforce4 420 go 32mb card that'd be great.

Does that game require a DX 9 card?

Or just newer drivers?

It it requires a DX 8 or 9 card (that has pixel shaders), you will need to get a new graphics card. (IE: your screwed)

Which drivers have you tried from here?

The 67.50 drivers work fine for me (look in my sig)

Does that help you?

If not you should provide us with some more info.

I have VPR matrix as well and the same thing happens to me when I try to upgrade drivers using the modded ones on this website. The "latest" ones that work with my computer with no problem is version 52.16 with 20.55 inf. which can be found here

http://www.laptopvideo2go.com/pages/modifyinf50.htm

I am still trying different ways to get newer drivers from here to work on my laptop. But so far this is the only one that works without the 8-bit problem. This driver works with WoW, I follow

http://www.laptopvideo2go.com/pages/speed.htm

and turn all of the video settings in WoW to low details to get the best perfromace.

Best wishes,

Jim

v52.16 that brings back memories :)

Something is coded into that driver that makes every Laptop running :P It's a strange phenomen. :)

Can you tell me what are your resolutions? Recently i added some more, but you have choosen not listed?!

The trick to find out what is causing the 8bit problem is comparing the Orignal INF from your shipped drivers with version 52.16 (and hopefully find out they both use the same settings) and then compare the settings with any newer driver that does NOT work and gives you the8bit problem.

Thanks for trying to help ®®®! :)

The native resolution on the VPR matrix is a rare 1280x854, but it seems that it is enabled in all of the modded infs so I am not sure what could be the problem.

When using drivers other than v52.16, I get 8-bit 800x600 resolution and I can uncehck "hide modes that this monitor cannot display" and all the sudden I get all of the resolution modes that was modded in the inf and I can select my resolution and color quality, but this is NOT an option if I wanted to play games that require directx 9.0c. With this configuration when I run Sims2 or World of Warcraft, they always return with error stating that my video card is incompatible with directx 9.0c. I've tried to mess with the inf and nothing seems to work.

I just read on this forum that I can set my 2nd display as primary...so when I get home tonight I am going to try this with the newer drivers to see if it would work.

http://forums.laptopvideo2go.com/index.php?showtopic=6614

I've also attached the OEM inf from VPR matrix, it would be really awsome if you could help.

Best wishes,

Jim

Are you sure with 1280x854 and not 1280x800 ? Is this, what is listed in the system specs of your Laptop or is it what the NV Control Panel shows? Also does v52.16 or your original shipped driver maybe show a different resolution?

don't have a clue right now..

I saw your resoltiuon in the attache diNF so it could be right what you write.

It's so weird because what would be the name of this 1280x854 resoltion :) All names are given away. We could define one: "WXGAvpr" :)

Your original driver is stone age 30.82, there are not much interesting setting in the INF for your device most are standard in my eyes (and i left them away):

HKR,, RMMaintainDevs, %REG_DWORD%, 1

HKR,, PushBufferMemorySpace, %REG_DWORD%, 2

HKR,, DevSwitchSuppressMask, %REG_DWORD%, 1

HKR,, RMMaintainScaling, %REG_DWORD%, 1

If there is time then probably theres is someone who can look and compare with 52.16 and then with a new driver and look for differences. If the value is found we can add another problem maker namely vprMAtrix to the solved list.

Man.....I printed the inf v20.55. v30.47, and the OEM one and did a comparison....however, there are much I don't know about the settings so I am unable to make a logical guess as to what could be causing the problem.

I tried the dualview settings.....but it still does not allow me to play games that require directx 9.0c....so that is a no go.

I spent the whole night installing, uninstalling, restoring, modifying....and still nothing works...

1280x854 IS the resolution on this thing....its the same resolution as some of the apple widescreen displays...

I really appreciate you help!

Best wishes,

Jim

OK, i forgot to mention that the important settings are the [software Device Settings] section :( sorry for a sleepless night :)

(I think we should add this resolution to the list.)

Hey maybe you can lend a hand to me as well. I have a Toshiba 5105-S501 with the GeForce Go 440 (32MB card). I've downloaded the 71.20 drivers and the game technically works...and looks alright...but it locks up after 30min to 1hr of the hard variety requiring a reboot.

I'm thinking maybe its because the driver for the 440 thats out there is for a 64mb card which might cause some havoc? I dunno. Is there anything I can do a driver you'd suggest to play this game? My wife is tired of me hijacking her computer so I can play :)

Hi,

I don't want to show disrespect to Pieter and his excellent drivers but the thing is they never worked 100% reliable on my laptop (Toshiba 5200 - 1.9 GHz P4M, GF4 460 Go, 512 MB Ram, WinXP Home). You should try Omega 45.23a drivers which are very very fast and all the games that i've tried them with worked. Do not try 5xxx or later drivers with a GF4 MX cards since they do not offer as good performance and they broke compatibility with some games. WoW works very well on my setup -> 20-35 fps outdoors and 50-80 fps indoors with medium settings and I've had LONG (5-10 hours) gaming sessions without a single crash. Hope this will help you.
