®®®
It default to half the brightness, but you still CAN set it to lower or higher brightness manually (FN F6 or F7). Dont know if you like it that way.
®®®
TOSHiBA ConfigFree Software *NEW* 25-MAI-2005 v5.50.12 | DOWNLOAD (~13,7MB) Nice piece of software with fancy interface and usefull functions like changing IP, Printer, Shares etc. on-the-fly with the help of profiles you need to setup, but bloat-ware. Usefull maybe for beginners. You can get 100kb application which can do almost the same, also it installs some weird Network packet driver besides your TCP/IP stack. You get 2 icons in your Toshiba Console. Edited May 24, 2005 by ®®®
®®®
Toshiba Power Saver Utility *NEW* 26-APR-2005 v7.05.06.PR DOWNLOAD link for v7.05.06.PR (~7,3MB) DOWNLOAD link for v7.05.04.0021 new 7.xx version has a much nicer GUI. if anybody has more PowerSaving profiles for that , pls. post them as .REG file, so anybody can import them i had one for MP3 playback for example in a car or when sitting in a park, play time was ~3 hours before battery was empty :) You could tweak even more battery live if you turn off devices in DeviceManager or turn on PowerSaving feature on certain devices (SoundCard YAMAHA ControlPanel, Intel Network card etc. etc.). Just have a look in the Device Manager and you will see. with version 7 there is a small annoyance, which affects the brightness setting in a profile when switching from AC to battery Edited April 26, 2005 by ®®®
sn0wl
Toshiba Power Saver 7.05.04 still has brightness bug :) Some more info about Toshiba Bluetooth Stack; Suppied ones with mine (was version 2.x I guess) were lacking many profiles. New version has new profiles over the old one like LAN, Headset, Imaging (for cameras) and some bugfixes. I'm not sure if SP2 Stack features all current profiles that Toshiba Bluetooth Stack has. sn0wl
First, uninstall any installed Bluetooth Stack problems and restart. Then find the bluetooth switch located right above your DVD drive (near SD Card slot) and set it to on (don't worry if yellow light doesn't turn on). Install latest Toshiba Bluetooth Stack from the link above, run setup and install it. If it notifies about new drivers, just automatically install them. Restart your computer and run Start>Toshiba>Bluetooth>Bluetooth Settings. Yellow light should turn on and it should work ok if thats not something related to any hardware problem. ®®®
i have the 5205-s703 toshiba labtop and every time i try to run the bluetooth i got a message says couldn't open tosrfec.sys tareq, BT for our model was optional, means BT is not delivered by default. You need to order it seperately. So the error you see is normal, as you have no BT (like me).
hazart
Toshiba released a replacement of Toshiba Console, which is called Toshiba Assist. It has a better UI that conforms to the latest series of Toshiba laptop applications. The latest version is Toshiba Assist for Windows XP v1.02.05 You can find it easily on the American support site. :) BTW, Toshiba Touch & Launch Utility is a nice piece of software. The latest version is Toshiba Touch & Launch Utility for Windows XP v1.2.7.0 This is a GREAT SITE!! :)
®®®
Welcome hazart, thanks for the info and especially the attached pic. I saw Toshiba Assist some days ago over at TAI, but was too lazy to install/test/reload my image (PQDI), so i really appreciate your info of replacement of Toshiba Console. Will install that when i have some more time...... :)
hazart
You are very welcome, man! :) Forgot to mention another GREAT piece of software from Toshiba. Toshiba Virtual Sound for Windows XP It uses SRS Labs SRS WOW XT and TruSurround XT technologies and it only works on Toshiba laptops. :) After installed, it basically processes any sound of sampling rate 44.100 kHz or 48.000 kHz before the sound is sent to the speakers. It boosts my laptop speakers so much that I can't believe my laptop speakers are this GOOD!!! Toshiba must have paid a lot for the licensing so enjoy! :P :( The latest version is Toshiba Virtual Sound for Windows XP v1.00.06.
®®®
Will the harman/kardon speakers here even produce better sound :) ? hazart
I tested every one of them in recent months! :) "VirtualSound v2.00.02" is actually an old version of v1.00.06 for some odd reason - both the application version and digital signature time stamp are old. "SRS WOW Plugin from Toshiba for WMP9" is the very first co-operation that Toshiba had with SRS Labs. The plug-in, with only WOW XT technology, only works within WMP whereas TVS, with BOTH WOW XT and TruSurround XT technologies, works as a global 'system plug-in'. With TVS, there is no need for the WMP plug-in. As you have probably noticed, Toshiba has stopped updating the WMP9 plug-in for quite a while, but it is constantly updating TVS. In many ways, TVS is both a big improvement and replacement of the WMP9 plug-in. "Toshiba Audio Effect Utility for Windows XP v2.00.00" is another old version of TVS, digitally signed in September last year, and v1.00.02 was more than one year old. :) In conclusion, TVS v1.00.06 is the latest and the best to use. (Digitally signed on 11 Jan 2005) The Speech System refused to install because my OS is a Chinese version. :P
®®®
OOOH my!! :) :) I just installed your recommended version: Unbelievable output enhancement :P Even for my Harman/kardon speakers and built-in subwoofer :( This is a must have software ! Will upload it to LaptopVideo2Go for everbody to use and link it somewhere. Would you make a thread with explanation and description, i move it then in the Utilities section. I think anybody can install this, not only on Toshiba's. I also saw no restrictions in the INF either. It works with MediaMonkey here, WinAMP probably too, and any other app also. See this: System Requirements TOSHIBA Virtual Sound can be used in any environment that meets the following conditions. Operating System Microsoft Windows XP Professional, Home Edition, or Media Center Edition installed computer. Sound Applications Windows Media Player, InterVideo WinDVD or any other sound applications to play a sound. Sound Sources A music CD or sound files that can be played on the Windows Media Player. A DVD or sound files which can be played on the InterVideo WinDVD. Audio received through a TV tuner. Music, movies, and sounds played from the Internet. Any game with audio. The SRS process is available depending on whether the sampling rate is 44.100 kHz or 48.000 kHz. Please see Differences in Effect by Sound Sources in the Operating Basics folder of this help file. ®®®
Am I going to starting a new thread? Sure and hopefully!! Credits to the one who deserves it :) This driver/plugin/filter is now the final reason for me to get rid of WMP. hazart
SRS is selling the WOW XT plug-in for WMP for $10. I am pretty sure this TVS would cost more than $30! Moreover, we wouldn't get this for even $100 if Toshiba hadn't co-operated with SRS Labs - it is not commercially available - there is no retail version of such thing. Toshiba is great! :jumpyjoy:
