Issues Resolved in Version 81.84
This following are changes made and issues resolved since driver version 78.05
and 81.82:
Single GPU Issues
• GeForce 6800 Ultra: There is geometry corruption in Black & White 2;
triangles stretch to infinity.
• GeForce 6600, Windows XP: De-interlacing issue when playing The
Big Lobowski DVD.
• GeForce 6600 GT: Half Life 2 crashes with driver version 81.82.

The problem occurred only in VMR mode and not in overlay mode.
SLI Related Issues
• GeForce 7800 GTX, SLI: Changing the DVI flat panel scaling results in
missing or corrupted modes.
• GeForce 7800 GTX, SLI, Windows XP: Using the option "Detect
Optimal Frequencies" under the 3D Performance setting could result
in a system crash.
• GeForce 7800 GTX, GeForce 6800/6600/6200, SLI, Windows XP:
Introduction videos do not render in Tiger Woods 2005 in AFR mode.
• GeForce 7800 GTX/Quadro FX 3400, SLI: When enabling SLI, a
message appears indicating that there is no video link bridge.
• GeForce 7 Series, GeForce 6 Series, SLI: Turning on Gamma
Corrected AA disables SLI 8x AA and causes the display to fall back
to 4x AA.
• GeForce 6800 Ultra, SLI: Colin McRae Rally 2005 has screen
corruption, slow frame rendering during the race, and occasional
blue-screen crash.

• GeForce 6600, SLI: Corruption occurs in the game Painkiller when
setting the resolution to widescreen formats.
• GeForce 6 Series, SLI: Overlocking does not work after dynamically
enabling or disabling SLI mode.
• The system crashes when dynamically enabling SLI mode.
• GeForce products, SLI: With SLI AA rendering enabled, there is
corruption while the flight-loading dialog box is opened in Flight Sim
2004.
• Quadro FX 3400, SLI: With SLI AA rendering enabled, there is poor
performance and occasional system hang with OpenGL applications.

I've just made a performance enhanced INF, this is for benchmarking or where quality isn't an issue.

These are my own settings I have stolen no one elses.

Install these as normal, they shouldn't require any more input.

Also as a first I've added Quadro tweaks to the INF, they will only be used when a quadro is installed (ie any other GPU won't install those settings)

This should enable some features that Quadro's have disabled by default.

I 'd be very interested in how you guys get on, even if these settings are crap let me know.

I might keep them going, or expand to Quality as well.

To get the Performance INF headback to the top of this thread and links can be found there, for both 32 and 64 bit.

Enjoy :)

What kind of tweaks are in the performance INF?

Is the Quality loss noticeable?

FYI,

Your performance INF completely locked up and restarts my PC when attempting to install the driver.

My INF too fast for your laptop :)

OK must go and investigate.

I'm using nVidia documented tweaks, so they shouldn't be the problem :)

So what are the Quadro tweaks? What do they do?

[Quadro_Tweaks]HKR,, OGL_AALineGamma,              %REG_DWORD,    0x23

HKR,, OGL_EnableOverlaySupport,      %REG_DWORD,    0x1

HKR,, OGL_EnableSingleBackDepthBuffer,%REG_DWORD,    0x1

HKR,, OGL_MultisampleCompatibility,  %REG_DWORD,    0x1

Nothing too dratic but should help some out.

These features are off by default.

Any clue as to why my system melted down with the INF?

Hmmm, this is harder than I thought.

Just spent 2 hours trying tweaks, rebooting, more trying, booting...

I found 1 problem with a setting but still get a no boot with another.

I'll have to try and find this problem next, takes ages to narrow it down to a single tweak.

Curse nVidia, I'm using their own performance tweaks, trust them not to work :)

I 'll get back here later tonight after more testing, this is my first attempt at my own tweaks.

I don't want to just copy others work and have no idea what the actual tweaks do.

I hope to have this sorted very soon :)

Just noticed that there isn't any "nvcplui.exe" located within this driver set.

Yes, noticed this as well, 81.82 was probably not suposed to be leaked.

DON'T try and run that file from 81.82 as errors (version mismatch) occur.

Done, many, many ,many tests and reboots later.

I have taken out the culprits

The INFs have been uploaded (see 2nd post for links)

Let me know how you get on, is there any performance gain ?

This will be a work in progress, but good to get feedback (good and bad)

I'm a curious cat, what tweaks have been implemented?

He describes each tweak right in the inf -- about halfway down. Very handy!

One that might not be clear is the "FlipBuffering" switch. This controls the number of frames ahead D3D will render. (Setting it to 2 will render two frames ahead, etc.)

Nice work Pieter!

Pieter, any idee why this driver and the 81.82 doesnt work for my notebook?

After the reboot and the login screen of windows my screen stays black

OpenGL does not work with the performance INF, completely locks up and restarts my computer.

Maier, look about halfway down the inf and you'll find a line you can enable to fix the black screen on reboot problem.

Guest, yes, the standard inf has been modified as well. This thread is for both.

I may need to shift the performance side of things to somewhere else.

Or maybe give up on it as I'm wasting an awful lot of time on and let the other "performance enhancing' sites do this.

I'll have a wee think.

terror_adagio, bugger this is where the biggest gains would have been.

It looks like the tweaks are no longer valid for the 80's series :)

I'll have a play with this as I get time, I still have some tricks up my sleeve.

Well After trying the first Performace inf and having it fail (Black screen lock-up) I tried the second one (your update after my first post) and that one doesn't work either (but I did get farther).

The main problem is when I right mouse click on the desktop and go to the "NVIDIA display > Laptop display" to bring up the control panel; It hits the HD a bit and then blue screens

I tried using your normal INF with only the Quadro mods added in, that blue screened. Then I just did the Performance INF with the quadro mods removed - but that blue screened as well.

Thank you for all the time spent on the Performance and Quadro mods - I appreciate all the work you have put into this so far.
