I got a new SD-R6012 optical drive unit to replace my old one (having dropped my laptop). Unfortunately, I think I think I've squashed the terminals on the bit that sticks out of the motherboard, so the computer won't recognise the drive at all. The light comes on on the cd drive as normal when booting up or pressing the open button, but it doesn't exist as far as the computer's concerned. Unfortunately I didn?t manage to find anything in Google Crying or Very sad And Clevo's service manual refers to everything except the fans... What the he** is wrong with Toshiba in not posting this information on its WEB site like he much bigger companies like Dell do. Its not like these are brand new computers under warranty. Clearly there is an overheating problem with this product that ends up causing problems 3-4 years out! By the way, does anyone know of software that would keep the cooling fans "on" during corded use? Thanks for listening to my rant and I truly appreciate any help you my be able to lend !
