seschu01
I currently have the following: Card name: NVIDIA GeForce Go 6800 Ultra Manufacturer: NVIDIA Chip type: GeForce Go 6800 Ultra AC type: Integrated RAMDAC Device Key: Enum\PCI\VEN_10DE&DEV_00C9&SUBSYS_019C1028&REV_A2 Driver Date/Size: 9/8/2005 17:58:00, 3912576 bytes Installed in MY XPS M170 which has 2 Gig. So I decided to trot out this am and install the latest NVIDIA Drivers onto my laptop. Having not tried that and the system runniing perfectly up until now I thought, 5 minutes and a reboot. 2 hours later I have yet to get any driver version installed at all unless it comes directly from dell. I ran some tools here and have even downloaded a few of the drivers here as well. Each time I try to run them I get the following message: "The NVVIDIA Setup prpgram couldnot locate any drivers that are compatible with your hardware"... From NVIDIA I have tried 81.91, 84.21 and 84.43 I was able to modify the INI file of the 84.43 installer by adding my: %NVIDIA_NV41.DEV_00C3.1% = nv4_NV3x, PCI\VEN_10DE&DEV_00C3 Added >>>> %NVIDIA_NV41.DEV_00C9.1% = nv4_NV3x, PCI\VEN_10DE&DEV_00C9 which did install the drivers as a 6800 XT. This seems unsafe to me and I was wondering where I should go from here... Any assistance is appreciated thanks
Fabrice Roux
Drivers from the nVidia web site are meant to be used with DESKTOP GPUs. For mobile GPUs you have 2 choices... manufacturer driver or LaptopVideo2Go. Since you have a Dell laptop... visit the 84.30 driver page and read the Quick Start Guide. If the 84.30 gives you issues... fall back to the marvelous and famous 84.25 driver.
