jermblit
My laptop is Sony-VGN-FS315M with 1.5 Gb ram, Intel Pentium M 740 1.73 GHz, NVIDIA GeForce Go 6400 with TurboCache 128mb, video driver is 84.21 downloaded from this website. However, I still have some problem with the game I played- warcraft 3 Frozen Throne (online battlenet) after I upgraded my driver. Just that the problem is not as severe as before. The problem is, the game will be closed automatically at anytime. Then when I try to re-run the game, it will have a directx error msg as below: " Warcraft 3 was unable to initialize DirectX. Please ensure you have DirectX8.1 or newer installed and that your display driver are current. " I have to restart my laptop in order to enter the game properly. I am sure I have DirectX9.0c installed in my laptop. AS you know, warcraft 3 battlenet is online game, and I don't want to be called as a "leaver" during the game and get banned by the banlist. So, pleasssssssee! Someone who know how to encounter this problem, please help me! Or tell me what is the best driver JUST to play this game- warcraft 3. Thanks. sn0wl
Try using a driver cleaner software to uninstall GPU drivers and then do a clean install of a widely used driver, like 84.25. Or maybe your system needs a clean install.

Fabrice Roux
ok, then where can I download the driver cleaner? Are you connected to the internet? Are you familiar with search engines? Such as Google. If you use Google you'll end up with a page like this one. I hope the rest will be OBVIOUS. *crosses fingers*
Guest Guest
how does the game run on ur laptop?
Guest mike
First of all, DO NOT ATTEMPT TO ROLLBACK OR UNINSTALL YOUR DIRECTX. IT JUST DOESN'T WORK THAT WAY. Reverting back to previous versions of DirectX, I assure you, will not solve the problem but will just mess up your Operating System. Secondly, BEFORE RESORTING TO GIVING UP YOUR CURRENT GRAPHIC CARDS AND BUYING NEW ONES, try this possible solution first. THE ONLY REASON WHY THE ERROR MESSAGE "..Unable to intialize DirectX..." APPEARS IN WARCRAFT IS THAT DIRECT3D ACCELERATION IS DISABLED (even if your graphics card is direct3d-capable) or IS JUST SIMPLY NOT SUPPORTED BY YOUR GRAPHICS CARD. To know if it's disabled, type dxdiag in the run command. Go to Display tab. Check DirectDraw and Direct3d acceleration. Status of these two must be "Enabled" and is clickable. If it's not, then your Direct3d is indeed disabled, which prohibits warcraft from running. SO THE QUESTION NOW IS, HOW DO YOU ENABLE DIRECT3D? Simple. Just go to Display Properties (from the Control Panel), then click Settings tab, and then click Advanced button. Look for the tab where "Hardware acceleration" is present (in most cases, it's in the Troubleshoot tab). Drag the indicator to Full. Click Apply and OK. Just to be safe, restart your PC again. Run Warcraft.
