sn0wl
A report on EETimes indicates that Toshiba is planning to close down a fabrication facility in Germany. Toshiba will transfer all chip production from Braunschweig, Germany, to Japan. A news paper in Germany also indicated that Toshiba would complete the shutdown by 2007, and that 132 employees from that location were informed last Friday. The location currently produces various semiconductor components for the PC industry. The reports also indicates that the local government is talking with Toshiba in an effort to keep the facility open. Fabrication facilities tend to employ a significant number of people, and likewise, it's in Germany's interest to keep Toshiba operational within the country.
