My Recommendation:

Buy a new alienware!

this 5300 is a bunch of crap. it's to slow to screen the animations of wmp 10... lol

I gave my laptop Acer Aspire 1522 WLMI for repair, because my GPU, a GeForce FX Go 5700 malfunctioned, and they replaced it without asking me first with a GeForce FX Go 5300/5350! Did they give me a lower performance card? Is there any big difference in performance between these two GPU's?

They did the same with my Acer Aspire 1520 WLMi!

One day, due to my ACPI Buggy BIOS, the laptop fan didn't started on POST. Saddly, I didn't noticed that. After a half hour working with XGL/Beryl DM the laptop turned off and ever since didn't turn on anymore. I think the VGA burned up :P

Since it was on warranty, I sent the laptop to repair.

After 3 months they gave me the laptop with a new mobo. (Why? If the VGA is connected via miniAGP?)

Anyway, I turned on my repaired laptop and booted fine.

After 5 minutes of testing, I noticed some pixel artifacts when something is drawn over a black background. It's really annoying when working, eg on the console, or drawing images with black background or writing this post (despite having white bg). After getting pci device list, I found that they replaced my Geforce Go5700 with a Geforce Go5300!! ######-it! :)

After that, I opened the upper cover of the laptop (I think this won't void the warranty) and found that there were missing screws in the internal laptop structure. Man!! I'm really pissed off!! :P

I haven't tested the VGA under windows yet because I don't have it installed right now.

I have a video capture of that annoying pixels HiRes here. :)

You can download the attached movie to (with lower quality).

WOOT! I didn't noticed, but they replaced my AMD Athlon64 3000+ with a Athlon64 3400+!!

The old processor clock was ~1750Mhz, this new processor clock is ~2200Mhz. And I have more 512kb of L2 Cache. WoooW What a difference! :)

I'm happier now heehe..

Although, I still have that strange random pixels problem. Any idea?

Hallo,

Ich habe meinen acer aspire 1522 wlmi seit gut 2 jahren.

Hatte ihn während meiner Garantiezeit schon 2 mal eingeschickt.
