jnslprd
Hey whats up. I just recieved my dell e1705 2 days ago.the specs are. core duo 2400,2 gigs ram, 100gb hd(7200rpm),nvidia 7900gs,ultrasharp monitor. Heres my problem, I loaded a few games including doom3 and half life 2(episode 1) .neither of these games would play for more then 5 minutes without crashing regardless of settings or adjustments. Is this normal? i expected a whole lot more from this laptop. at this point i dont know what to do, I dread the idea of a tech support call for 5 hrs. The laptop is a dell refurbished,my third refurb and so far my first problem. I have tried every tweak i could find online including new drivers, lower settings, different reslutions. If anyone know what could be causing this some help would be much appreciated. i dont know how dells return policies are, but im seriously thinking of sending it back, its too new for problems. Thank in advance, Joe
Fabrice Roux
Wild guess overheating issue? A dude buys the laptop which crashes after 5 minutes of gaming. He returns the laptop to Dell which test the laptop 30 seconds with whatever 3D test. It works OK... then they send it to you. Log the temperatures returned by the GPU. I dont know if i should give up on the idea of gameplay on a laptop or not. thanks joe
