blueyzfr1
Dell C840 - 440 Go 64M - Best 32bit XP Driver Hiya, I have installed lots of the newer releases (90-80) and notice really choppy DVD playback and poor performance. 42.58 - On Dell website, very good. 67.71 - Seems OK so far... 78.51 - Poor Video Performance I am trawling through them all, anyone got the same card and can point me in the right direction to use the latest good version? Cheers Ricky. UPDATE 84.69 seems to be great! Edited December 22, 2006 by blueyzfr1
Fabrice Roux
You have an old graphic card... it's better to stick with an old driver. If you want to be the geek with the latest build... look for the terms overlay and VMR in the FAQ section. A place where you should have spent more time before posting. blueyzfr1
How rude! I did go there and even customised the inf with VMR on/off. Some of us cannot afford to have the latest laptop. We are here to help, I have found the Dell 84.69 to be a great driver. Merry Xmas, Ricky. Fabrice Roux
If you played with VMR why didn't you mention it on your first post? At no point I was saying that you should dump your laptop to get a new one. I'm a keep until it fails/ doesn't fulfill your need kind of guy. Your graphic card is old... there is nothing "rude" about it... it's a fact. FYI the Geforce 4 Go 4xx is based on the desktop GeForce 2. Which I stopped to use in my desktop computer back in 2001... I kept it 2 years. So believe me 1999 design is kinda old in 2006. You might want to visit the Recommended driver thread in the FAQ section. blueyzfr1
Forget it :) let's have a Merry Xmas. I note that the driver I am now using Dell 84.69 is the one recommended in your info panel! so we both agree anyway :)
Fabrice Roux
The 84.69 is even the driver that I recommend in the Recommended driver FAQ.
