mr.zangetsu
Greetings, I have a Dell M1210 with a Geforce Go 7400, running on a 1200x800x32, 50 Hz resolution (on a sidenote, I'm not exactly sure why I can't get it up to 60 Hz, I guess the laptop's LCD isn't as capable?). I've been trying to install a couple of games recently and I found out that they weren't able to get the display resolution mode and thus didn't run. I've tried googling, looking on various forums, but noone seems to have experienced this issue or at least hasn't complained about it. I even tried posting a question to nvidia directly but apparently their having some trouble with their webcode because it always turns into some kind of authentication error. Anyway. I found out through dxdiag that the error is coming from D3D: HRESULT=0x80004005 - No hardware supported display modes found. Tried updating the computer's BIOS, running the installation of DX9c (not sure if it did reinstall completely though), updating to the newest available drivers from the laptop's website; nothing helped. Prince of Persia : Warrior Within, The Elder Scrolls - Oblivion, dxdiag, all saying the same thing. What can I do to fix this issue? Any help would be greatly appreciated. mr.zangetsu
Looks like noone out there with a M1210 having problems, but apparently someone else had a similar one with an ATI, it all turned out to be a problem of the frequency. D3D just wasn't able to work with 50 Hz, the solution was more simple than I thought - open the nvidia control panel, Digital Flat Panel section and uncheck the Reduce DVI frequency. That's all folks, happy NY :)

Preinstalled windows and all the other crapware. Guess someone just fiddled around a bit and thought how smart he was. Well he wasn't.. I'm just glad I found it.
