Does anyone know how to extract the contents of an .exe file

How does laptopvideo2go extract the contents nv4_disp.ini from the sony vga driver.exe

Pls help. I need to update my laptop drivers. Sony is very lazy. They never update their drivers.

First step we take is to use either 7zip or Winrar. In the case of Sony they are specially packed and requires some trickery... I'm not sure if there is another method but mine is quite involved.

If you are asking this then I presume we don't have this driver? All drivers we have contain the original files including those from multiple OEM vendors.

Thanx for the response, but ever since laptopvideo2go existed, all your drivers renders

the brightness control of any Sony laptop useless.

I know OEM Sony drivers control the brightness of LCD.

But your generalised driver ver. makes Sony laptops unable to control brightness.

Thats why I would like to investigate the nv4_disp of my Sony OEM driver.exe

to know exactly whats missing from yours.

You guys are great. I can imagine PC gaming world without you guys..... S A D ! ! !

So how do you extract the contents of a sony packaged driver.exe

What did you mean by the statement "I'm not sure if there is another method but mine is quite involved"

I figured it out my self.

Any application.exe that is executed copies itself, in other words its contents to a temp folder.

So I have been able to locate the temp folder.

So I will be editing the NV_SZ.ini

Thanx for reply

I think you found Teraphy's involved way to getting the driver extracted.

What driver are you playing with, is it hosted here ?

If not a link to it would be great :)
