Driver can't find OS

I am currently using Windows Vista on my Toshiba laptop. However, when I first tried to install a Driver (101.41) Vista couldn't find the publisher name, and I made it force install, however, the install did not succeed, it just stuck at about 60% for around 30 mins hence I forced it to shut down. Now when I'm about to install ANY driver, it keeps telling me that I am not using Windows Vista. I tried to uninstall the previouse driver, but to no success and I ended up having to system restore to get the driver back. Any help will be greatly appreciated.
