I Ate Your Pie
Hello, I own a sony vaio laptop with the nvidia geforce 8400m gt on 32 bit vista, and I have been experiencing some glitches in counter strike source and half life 2 and I decided that I needed a new driver. I am kind of paranoid about doing any form of damage to the laptop and its hardware/software, so if a driver does not work, all I have to do is roll back the driver and everything will be back to normal right? Thank you EDIT: please read & answer my question in bold a couple posts below.. Edited August 27, 2007 by I Ate Your Pie
smax
I'd try 163.15 or 163.16 personally.
I Ate Your Pie
I'd try 163.15 or 163.16 personally. I looked at those but on the "Original INF only supports:" I don't see my nvidia geforce 8400m gt. please help T.T (sorry I'm sortof new to this stuff) by the way If I have problems with the new driver I just have to roll back the driver to return everything to before I installed the new driver right? Thanks Edited August 23, 2007 by I Ate Your Pie
smax
Replace the original INF in the driver folder with the INF supplied here and it wil work with your computer. That was only a list of what was originally supported with the driver... Here, we add support for all nVidia GPUs. Read the FAQ for instructions on how to install properly. If you have problems, just uninstall the driver and reinstall whichever one you started out with.

smax
Ya, there shouldn't be any permanent results at all. If it doesn't work, just reinstall the old driver. I said 163.15 or 163.16 would be a good starting point.
zipper
you mean if the new driver doesn't work I can just roll back the driver and everything will be normal again right? Roll back or system restore - I use either depending what I've done. 163.16 feels quite reliable.
I Ate Your Pie
well I looked up 163.16 vista 32 bit and 163.15 vista 32 bit but I saw some negative replies to those so I'm not sure.. And I've read some driver comments and some people said they could not boot up even though their driver was rolled back so I'm sort of nervous. Does anyone have a 8400m gt and vista 32 bit with a working driver?
I Ate Your Pie
alright let me just ask: if you have an nvidia 8m series gpu on vista 32 bit, what driver are you using from this website? (and does it cause any problems?) thank you Edited August 27, 2007 by I Ate Your Pie
