Hi all,

i'm trying to let work a AR5008 minipci-e (ALPS JAPAN brand, bought on ebay) on my Inspiron 9400 windows XP sp3 without success.

I've read through all the forums i found, collecting several different results...(an user with mac seems to use 7.6.0.200 driver with success in XP SP3...) but still i've not found an user with my same conf and the ar5008 running well...

Is there any particular issue related to Dell Inspiron?

Is it possible to use this card with Windows xp? Any proved result?

please let me know....my problem, as ever, is the BSOD with nmi parity error...as soon as i try to connect to the SSID....other times i can't even boot ...

I've tried all the 6.xxx and 7.xxx drivers but there's no way to let this card work...

Please help

Alas the is a major issue with the i9400 and WIFI cards.

Stay away from 5008x and 928x chipsets they give trouble, I make Vista modded INFs to fix the parity error in Vista.

Don't even bother with Intel 5x00 AGN cards they don't work at all.

Ralink cards and Broadcom based Dell 15xx cards work good.

Oh ok....thank you for the answer..

I was afraid of that :)

Any chance you will develop a modded inf for XP? Does it is possible to use the Vista modded inf in XP based driver?

I've found just this one (Broadcom chipset) on ebay, where i bought the Atheros

http://cgi.ebay.it/HP-Wireless-WIFI-802-11...4QQcmdZViewItem

do you think it could work?

thank you again for your hard work

Hi! Thank you for your suggestion, i could buy it directly from oxfordtec since they sell to european countries too...

But it seems also that my ebay vendor is available to substitute the Atheros...so i could also get a DELL 1500 for free

Now...one is Ralink and the other (DELL) is broadcom chipset.. since i run Windows XP 32 but Leopard 10.5.5 too and it seems that new mac are built with BROADCOM, the Broadcom would be the best compromize between the two worlds...maybe

What do you think?

thank you again for your time

The Ralink site says it's MacOS friendly and has drivers.

Broadcom now make a 94322 chipset, the 94321 is quite old now as seen in the Dell 1500/1505, not sure what is in the 1510

If it's a free card then you can't go wrong to try it first :)

Atheros Jumpstart wifi protected setup WPS driver/app -- 2.0.0.414

Even though it's listed as Vista 64, it will work on 32 bit xp and vista.

http://web1.toshiba.ca/support/Download/fi...ary-1.0.0.7.zip

The atheros wireless WPS driver does work somewhat with my linksys wrt150n router (with stock wrt160n firmware to enable wps function in the router). It does automatically do WPA2-AES and auto-generate passphrase. "Somewhat" means that the router is auto set to WPA2-TKIP/AES, instead of AES only.

D-link DWA160 has a later version 2.0.0.417 in their driver package.

Hi Mobilenvidia,

well yes it's free so it's worth a try...i've sent the atheros back, i'm waiting for the Dell to see,i'll let you know the results on the forum...(if you care...)

The Vendor says 1505 and 1510 are using the same broadcom chipset, as 1510, while i knew that 1510 was 94322, but i maybe wrong...

anyway he will send me the 1500, so i will have the chance to try that one.

The 1510 is a 2Tx3R antenna card, the 1500 and I think 1505 are 2Tx2R antenna cards.

what's up mobilenvidia?! :)

i need driver for DWL-G520+ that should work under windows XP 64-bit,

any help? :)

Ah I see what is going on with your card.

WinXP is not supported for your card.

It is in Vista.

Do a forced install of the closest Atheros chipset that the DWL520+ has.

Untick "supported devices" when installing.

The drivers have both x86 and x64 versions in them.

Grab any driver, newer is always better. (well usually)
