A good driver for XP and 6800 that supports flat-screen scaling?

I`ve been using the 84.69 drivers for my 6800go ultra on XP, thinking it was the last driver I could ever need. The one problem though was that I use a HDTV with a rez of 1280x720, and any game that used a resolution larger then the horizontal rez would not display correctly, but outside the screen. Thinking this was impossible to solve and probably needed some nifty hardware thingy to essentially "shrink" the image down to size. Then I tried out vista and suddenly said games scaled down perfectly with the driver I used. My question then; is there any driver for windows xp that is in general very good and will actually support flat screen scaling?
