Guest Ryan
Doesn't install on a go7900GS either. Waiting for modded inf. Huh? What are you talking about? All you have to do is go to the original inf's folder, grab the nv disp inf and overwrite the old inf in the first folder. I installed it on my Aurora m9700. Guest Ryan
All right, I just tested this thing, and yes, it is better than 156.55. I've noticed that several games have added particles and fixed shading that were messed up in previous drivers, so expect prettier effects if you're playing on high. I think the average framerate is slower as a result, but I did get an even more stable framerate in games like BF2142. Unfortunately, SLI mode is still broken. :/ I use an Aurora m9700 with dual 256MB GS 7900 Go's, and SLI is still flickering when playing games in full screen. Guest val580
3D Marls06 : 8600M GT 256MB with T7300 on Dell Inspiron : 163.69 : 3270 163.67 :3260 163.44 : 3280 156.55 :3340 156.57 :3330 Newest driver get a less score than 156 ones : Where is the bug ? I found it !!! With desktop (160.XX) drivers , 3D marks runs at 1280x854 , but with mobile drivers , it runs at 1280x800. I think that's because newest desktop drivers allow custom resolutions (i.e 1350x854) . IMO the more stable driver is 163.44. I have the tweakforce G mobile version. I had 2 crash in DOD with 156.55 , haven't tried .57 in games yet. Also , I CANNOT overclock my GPU anymore with software ( rivatuner 2.04 ) with any 160.XX or 156.XX driver. I even lost gpu core temperature meter with latest driver (.67 and .69)
®®®
Guest gaevern and Raphie: both your GPUs are supported by nv4disp.inf that comes with the driver. Like guest Ryan said all you have to do is open the original infs.zip, grab the nv disp inf and overwrite the old inf in the driver folder. Tankkiller
Are these better then the v163.69 drivers?
Guest YesThey AreBetter
Yes, because of the thermal tweaks/protection specific to mobile GPUs, and also power saving on laptops! Not available in non-mobile-GPU/non-Go drivers (all after 158.24 no longer support Go)
Tankkiller
It won't let me install the driver :)
Guest Guest
OMG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I finally have a driver that works flawlessly!! I have an Dell Inspiron E1705 w/ go 7900 gs and i have had a slight flicker problem at times i could never seem to get rid of and looks like this cleard it up. My 3dmark 05 scores went from 5843 (best run stock) (dell driver) to 6309 (first run stock) (new driver). Noticed cleaner/smoother graphics and better performance. Nice upgrade from stock driver. Thanks again.
Guest Palleman
It doesnt work on my SB85-P-022D with an 8600M GS. But its on the list, need a modded inf just like before when the same problem accured.
Guest val580
Very stable , played Day of Defeat for 3 hours without any issue. To get 16:10 you need desktop driver , they allow custom resolution.
Guest Ichalos
Yes, because of the thermal tweaks/protection specific to mobile GPUs, and also power saving on laptops! Not available in non-mobile-GPU/non-Go drivers (all after 158.24 no longer support Go) I thought that all drivers after adding modded inf support mobile features - tweaks. Will they overclock? Which version allows overclocking on mobile 8x00 cards?
Guest Hola
No modding here only forces additional GPUs to use the same driver binaries by modifying the driver .inf installer to list the additional models. Overclocking and installing modded Desktop drivers is no longer possible once you have installed a genuine WHQL 156.XX Mobile Go driver! rabiddawgr
These drivers work terribly on my 8400m gs. I just downgraded from the 163.44 drivers and didn't notice these drivers doing anything special with powermizer etc. that 163.44 didn't do. Also, I believe that the recent vista hotfixes only work with 160 series drivers...my nvlddmkm.sys keeps crashing with these even when i try to use the window switcher. I'm going back to 163.
Leo
Never mind the 16:10 resolutions, just copy the resolutions from any of the modded inf file and erase the ones in the current inf. But these drivers seem to offer near identical performance to the 156.55, only concern is that once you open nvidia control panel and close it, computer becomes screwy. Can't open programs and stuff until I logout and log back in or restart.
AlexasusG1
It works fine for me on my Go 7700 (not very different than 156.55) :)
Guest Morten / Norway
I need some serious help, My computer (HP pavilion 9500, Vista 32-bit with GeForce 8600M GS) claims that my computer doesn't have a Vista 32-bit operative system. And this happens everytime I try to install a new driver. This message or the message: "Could not find any compitable drivers for your hardware" or something like that. Please help me! I'm furious with HP atm.
